Troy Quinlan is a semi-professional basketball player for the Boston Sharks of the American Basketball Association (ABA). Standing at 6'4" and playing primarily as a power forward, Quinlan brings a physical presence, versatility, and high-energy style of play to the Sharks’ frontcourt. Known for his rebounding, defensive effort, and willingness to do the dirty work, he contributes on both ends of the floor while continuing to develop his offensive game. Balancing competition at the semi-professional level with college and personal development, Quinlan represents the next generation of hardworking athletes striving to elevate their game and make an impact at higher levels of basketball.
Previously a standout performer in both the BYL and Brodie League. Quinlan has built a reputation as one of the most dominant and reliable forwards in the region. Standing at 6’4” and 210 pounds, he is known for his powerful, aggressive style of play and relentless motor. His accolades include being named to the BYL All-Conference North Team in Winter 2025 and serving as captain of the Brodie League Spring 2025 All-Star Team—honors that reflect both his production and leadership.
Quinlan’s basketball journey prior to semi pro includes competing at the AAU and elite levels, where he consistently proved himself against top-tier competition. He has been featured multiple times by SportsVisio, highlighting his ability to perform under pressure and make a lasting impact on the court. Throughout his BYL career, he was a key contributor for teams including the Wizards, Z Warriors, The Family, and Public Enemy, averaging 16 points per game. In the Brodie League, he played for teams such as The Family and All World Team Smoke, averaging 13 points per game while shooting an efficient 55% from the field.
Efficiency and consistency define Quinlan’s game. He is widely recognized for his deadly mid-range shot, which has become his trademark across both leagues. Troy also excels when attacking the rim, using his size and strength to finish through contact and generate multiple and-one opportunities each game. His ability to blend finesse with physicality makes him one of the most dependable offensive options on any roster.
In Spring 2025, Quinlan captained the Brodie League All-Star Team, further demonstrating his leadership and basketball IQ. He credits his success to fully embracing his role. “My role is mid-range shooting and driving to the rack,” Quinlan says. “When the ball is in my hands, that’s what you’re going to see. That’s why I’m consistent and reliable for the team. I’d rather take high-percentage shots than force something that’s not my game.”
Looking ahead, Quinlan plans to transfer to a four-year university after completing community college, with the goal of walking on to the school’s basketball team. He describes this as his long-term objective and is fully committed to achieving it through daily discipline—lifting weights, sharpening his skills, following a structured diet, and maintaining a strong, focused mindset. “I never give up—that’s just not in me,” he says, a mentality that defines both his approach and his progress.
Quinlan served as the Captain of Brodie League's The Mafia in Winter 2026. His main focus was setting the tone and building a winning culture. Also to demonstrate he can be a trusted leader.
Quinlan has talked about how his high school athletic program did not like him, and told him he should quit basketball. Due to the fact that he wasn't popular and didn't have any political connections to the mayor or coach. Peabody, MA is known for being extremely political with everything including there sports programs. He said "It lit a flame under my ass and motivated me to work harder than everyone else". "Now I just look back at it and laugh".
Troy also says that a lot of his motivation is that he wants to make his Uncle proud. Troy tragically lost his only Uncle Brian at the age of 48 in May, 2025. "He was such a great person with a kind heart; he was always there for me ". "Everyday I want to make him proud".
Off the court, Quinlan is a dedicated weightlifter, enhancing his durability and physical dominance throughout the season. His toughness, work ethic, and competitive mindset make him a respected presence in both the locker room and on the hardwood. A die-hard fan of the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees, and New York Knicks, Troy draws inspiration from athletes who embody resilience and excellence. On the court, he models his game after Jalen Brunson, emphasizing aggressive finishes, elite mid-range scoring, composure, and leadership.
With his powerful build and commanding presence, Troy is often compared to Josh Allen—not only for his strength and athleticism, but for his confidence and competitive fire. Outside of basketball, Troy is a proud dog dad to his German Shorthaired Pointer, Halo. Their bond brings balance to his life and reinforces the values of patience, consistency, and gratitude that drive him to succeed both on and off the court.
