Purpose
To support the theatrical programs and educational activities of Troupe 8191, a theatre troupe at the American Leadership Academy Queen Creek High School.

Explanation of the Booster Purpose:
Our purpose is to help Mrs. Hansen and the theater program at ALA Queen Creek High School:
To support and promote Troupe 8191 and its activities.
To provide financial, volunteer, and moral support to American Leadership Academy Queen Creek High School Theatre students and staff (grades 9-12).
To foster and encourage parent and community involvement in theater-related events.
To assist in fundraising for the benefit of the theater department.
To promote positive relationships between parents, students, staff, and the community.
Why fundraise for a Booster?
Many wonder why some sports programs get such nice facilities and opportunities. The answer for many things, like the new football stadium box office and new bleachers: THE BOOSTER PROGRAMS CREATE THE ENVIRONMENT AND OPPORTUNITY FOR THE STUDENT ATHLETES. We can create the experience we want our student thespians to have.
We are separate from the school, so we can have flexibility in supporting what needs to get done (like buying the supplies to create costumes without needing to petition the school for reimbursement).
We anticipate needing about $5,000 to fund the intended support activities through the school year. We do not intend to have the students do fundraisers. Instead, we are hoping to create opportunities for donors and sponsors to contribute.
Why not just have the school fund the costumes and supplies? The theater experience is an enrichment opportunity, outside the core curriculum provided by ALA. As parents and concerned adults, we want the best possible experience for these kids, and we are willing to step up and make it happen.
PLEASE NOTE: As explicitly stated in the booster club bylaws (linked below), we want to be clear that this is about helping the program, not ourselves:
No Preferential Treatment: It is explicitly stated and agreed that participation with the Booster DOES NOT and WILL NOT qualify a participant’s student for preferential treatment or consideration in classes, staffing, auditions, role selection and casting, or in any other way. Participation in the Booster is completely and totally voluntary without any expectation of return benefit, goodwill, or compensation. In essence, the Drama belongs on the stage and not in the Booster interactions with other members or school staff.
