Woodlands Trail

Woodlands Trail (K-5) is further organized into Fox (K-1), Hawk (2-3), and Mountain Lion (4-5) to permit gradual increases in complexity and challenge as boys become more capable in their elementary years. The youth gain knowledge about outdoor skills, citizenship, character, friendship, and faith through fun activities, awards, and skill instruction.

Navigators

Navigators (Middle School, 6-8) gain understanding of their values and beliefs under the guidance of godly male role models through being responsible in outdoor adventures and in their home and school life. They explore areas of interest and earn Trail Badges for advancement.

Adventurers

Adventurers (High School, 9-12) mature in wisdom and faith through more difficult challenges and leadership activities with Christian men walking alongside. They plan and lead outdoor events and large projects while exercising leadership positions in the Troop, even mentoring some of the younger Trailmen.

TRAILMAN OATH

On my honor, I will do my best;
To serve God and my country;
To respect authority;
To be a good steward of creation;
And to treat others as I want to be treated.

CATHOLIC TRAILMAN

Saint Pope John Paul II taught that “a faith that does not become culture is not fully accepted, not entirely thought out, not faithfully lived” (January 16, 1982). One of the purposes of Troops Fully Alive is to “develop a profound and radiant authentically Catholic identity within the Catholic troops of Trail Life USA” (Statutes, Art. 2, §1)—in short, establishing an authentic Catholic culture within our troops.

The ultimate goal of the Christian life is to become a saint. One day, Saint Thomas Aquinas’ sister asked him a very simple but important question, “How do you become a saint?” He paused and famously replied, “Will it!” In Trail Life USA, Catholic Trailmen embark upon this journey of becoming ordinary saints by leading lives according to the seven pillars of the Christian life.
