Levels and Uniforms

Pathfinders

Age: At least 5 yrs old (by October 31st) 

Girls earn necklace beads for attendance, participation, and Bible verse memorization, while learning the four parts of the AHG Oath. They may receive the Fanny Crosby Award for completion of this level. Pathfinders wear the official Pathfinder uniform t-shirt & navy skirt/slacks.

• Required: AHG Pathfinder Package (Pathfinder T-Shirt, Necklace Kit and Handbook)

• Required: Pathfinder Necklace Troop Number Beads 0800

• Required: Modest navy skirt, skort, bermuda style-shorts, or pants (shorts/skirts below mid-thigh towards the knee and no shorter than 2 inches above knee). Jeans, leggings, jeggings, and cargo pants are not approved as part of the AHG Official Class A Uniform (but jeans can be worn with Class B).

• Required: Closed toed shoes

Explorers 

Age: At least 9 yrs old (by October 31st) 

Explorers earn achievement badges in any of the six 'Frontiers of Skill' and receive activity patches for participating in Troop activities and/or special events.Service stars are awarded for every 10 hours of community service and they may earn the religious award. The Lewis and Clark Level Award is earned by those girls who achieve the highest level of skill and service in this age group. Explorers wear the official Explorer vest, white AHG polo & khaki skirt or slacks.

• Required:  Explorer Vest Package (navy vest, flag patch, AHG membership pin, & red neckerchief and slide)

• Required: 4 Red Troop Numbers 0800

• Required:  White polo - you can order an AHG Girl Polo or purchase a plain white polo from a store of your choice

• Required: Tenderheart/Explorer Girl Handbook 

• Required: Modest navy or khaki skirt, skort, bermuda style-shorts, or pants (shorts/skirts below mid-thigh towards the knee and no shorter than 2 inches above knee). Jeans, leggings, jeggings, and cargo pants are not approved as part of the AHG Official Class A Uniform (but jeans can be worn with Class B).

• Required: Closed toed shoes

• Required: Official Classic Class B Uniform T-Shirt-Red (worn when formal uniform not appropriate)

• Optional:  Badge Magic Kit(s): If you don't want to sew on the badges, patches and numbers these are helpful.

Pioneers

Age: At least 12 yrs old (by October 31st) 

A Pioneer continues to earn achievement badges, service stars, the religious award, and activity patches. The highest award level for Pioneers is the Harriet Tubman Level Award. The Pioneer level is where girls really begin to show leadership skills by assisting their leaders with planning, organizing, and staffing special AHG events in the community or within their Troop. Pioneers wear the official Pioneer sash, AHG white polo & skirt or slacks in navy or khaki

• Required:  Pioneer/Patriot sash package includes: navy sash, flag patch, AHG membership pin (we recommend buying the 39" sash and tacking it to fit your daughter and expand as she grows)

• Required: 4 Red Troop Numbers 0800

• Required:  White polo - you can order an AHG Girl Polo or purchase a plain white polo from a store of your choice

Patriots 

Age: At least 14 yrs old (by October 31st) 

The Patriot is the highest program level in AHG. These girls plan and carry out activities with Unit Leaders who function as “facilitators,” allowing girls to make decisions on a regular basis. As with lower levels, they too earn achievement badges, service stars, religious awards, and activity patches. Since the girls are older, they are required to demonstrate the highest level of skill in all areas. The level award for the Patriots is the Dolley Madison Level Award, but Patriot girls may go above and beyond to earn the highest honor of the American Heritage Girls: the Stars and Stripes Award. Patriots wear the official Patriot sash, AHG red polo & skirt or slacks in navy or khaki.
