Our mission as a chartered Troop of the BSA
is to provide an educational program for boys
and young adults to build character,
to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship,
and to develop personal fitness.
Troop 75 of Stratford, Connecticut was founded in 1936, it is now over 82 years old. The sponsor of the troop is Saint James Church at 2070 Main St. It’s the only meeting place the troop has known . Over 250 boys have been through the Troop, and of that, at least 10 boys have made it to the rank of Eagle Scout.
Some past Troop 75 leaders include, Ron Napp, Bob Nagy, Dave Zamachaj and Frank Duffy. The current Scoutmaster is Mr. Mike Duffy. Many scouts have made it to Eagle rank since he has been envolved with the troop and more not far behind.
There was formerly a Cub Scout Pack 75 that would meet at St. James school, many of these Cub Scout would “cross over” into Boy Scout Troop 75. However, the Cub Scout Troop folded in summer of 2016.
There are lots of activities besides scouting that young boys can do, such as video games or sports. Troop 75 has a lot of fun, though. We have gone on trips to Boston where we went to a Red Sox game and walked the famous Freedom Trail. We have also gone to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where our troop has gone white water rafting, touring the battlefield, and spent a day at Hershey’s Park. As well as local monthly outings.
