Troop 708/2708, Castro Valley Rotary Club
Troop 2708/708 of Castro Valley is a high adventure troop for girls and boys. Scouting is youth-led, meaning experienced scouts demonstrate skills and provide leadership as they guide new scouts in developing their own skills. Most of the activities our troop offers focus on three main areas: Outdoor Adventures, Leadership Skills, and Service Community/Character Development.

Troop 708/2708 is a high adventure troop. We have backpacked at the famous Philmont Scout Reservation, traveled to Hawaii for an exotic week of summer camp, and white water rafted on the American River. We also offer a monthly camping trip, usually somewhere local that is convenient for a one or two night stay.
Each adventure is scout driven. Scouts identify the types of activities they want to do, research each option and present it to the troop. Once a decision is made, they work with troop leaders on planning and executing.

The Scout Law, one of the many principles of Scouting, states that a Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
We help scouts develop their character by following these principles. Some examples include:
HELPFUL. Volunteer to help others without expecting a reward.
FRIENDLY. Be a friend to everyone, even people who are very different from you.
THRIFTY. Work to pay your own way. Try not to be wasteful. Use time, food, supplies, and natural resources wisely.
CLEAN. Keep your body and mind fit. Help keep your home and community clean.

Troop 708 and 2708 work together to offer the same experience and opportunities for girls and boys. All activities, events, and leadership opportunities are for both girls and boys. However, our registration with the local council is separate. Rest assured, whether you are registering for 708 or 2708 you are signing up for the same troop experience.

Adult Leaders are volunteers that help guide the Troop. Their job is to empower and guide our youth leadership, as well as ensure the safety of our scouts. Adult leaders also serve as the contact point for families interested in joining.
