For the safety and benefit of our scouts, the Boy Scouts of America requires the following training for all adults associated with a Boy Scout Troop.
***Most of the trainings are available online. Please see instructions at the bottom of this page***
Parent:
Youth Protection Training (YPT) online - Required. The course takes 30 minutes to complete and you can do it at your leisure at home. This is required each year in the Spring
Boy Scout Fast Start online - Recommended
"This is Scouting!" online - Recommended
Adults leading outings must also complete the Hazardous Weather Training Online.
Adults leading activities involving water must also complete the Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat Trainings online.
Core Committee Members:
(Includes: Committee Chair, Advancement Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Database Coordinator, Outing Signup Coordinator, among others)

Online Training Instructions
Upon completion of the online training, please print/save the certificate and send (by hardcopy or email) to the Adult Training Coordinator or Scoutmaster.
Steps:
1. Go to www.my.scouting.org
2. Login (if you have done so in the past) or "Create an account" (You do not have to be registered or have an ID number to take Youth Protection training.)
- Follow the steps to create an account (and REMEMBER your login info for future reference).
3. On the right side, click "New to Scouting - Click Here to Take Training and then select either YPT or Other Training at the top and take the appropriate course.
4. Complete all sections of the training videos and the Quiz at the end.
5. Upon completion of the quiz, please click "Print Certificate" and either:
- Print to PDF and e-mail
- Print screen and email (can paste the image into a Word doc)
- Print a paper copy and hand deliver or mail
Tips:
- If a video appears to stop it is because it is spooling more video onto your computer before proceeding. Do NOT use “refresh” or F5 as this will lose your progress and restart the video from the beginning.
- If you need to pause the video click the pause button at the lower right corner. To continue the video click the play button.
