Let Scouts BSA Troop 459 Recycle Your Tree

The Scouts of Troop 459 have performed Christmas tree curbside pickup and recycling as one of our primary fundraisers for many years.

Troop 459 works with local anglers to turn your donated Christmas trees into underwater “islands” for fish habitat in New Mexico's reservoirs (See Photos Below).

Your monetary donations are a critical part of our ability to provide a quality Scouting program for local youth by helping scouts earn their way to summer camp, high adventure camp and much more.

We are accepting online donations! You may of course still pay with a check on your tree. However, if you prefer to donate online, please follow the steps below and thank you!

Skip the check and make your tree donation online! A PayPal account is not required. Note we need your street address when making your donation. Visit our Donate with PayPal page.

IMPORTANT PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR STREET ADDRESS: When providing payment online, the Troop 459 will need to match your donation with the Troop covering your neighborhood. As providing your street address is optional with PayPal, this makes it difficult to match donations to Troops. When making your donation, we ask that you:

#1 Please select "Share your mailing address with Troop 459.".

#2 On an envelope/paper, provide Your Street Address Number-Last Name in the "Write a note" option in the PayPal form.

Please make check payable to "Troop 459". Place the check in an envelope. Place the envelope inside a Ziploc style bag to protect against rain or moisture. Attached the bag to the bottom of the tree with a rubber band. Thank you for your donation!

Tree Placement

Please place the tree curbside in front of your residence. If that is not possible, place the tree at the nearest cross street corner. Trees need to be out by 9:00 AM Saturday thank you!

The Don'ts

For safety reasons and recycler request, we cannot accept trees with tinsel, flocked trees, artificial trees, or trees with any other metal attached. Also - please no trees that used a fire retardant. Thank you for understanding.

Please do NOT leave trees piled next to our signs, near dumpsters or other locations. Leave the tree curbside in front of your residence.
