About Us
Troop 403 is composed of approximately 20 boys from ages 11- 17. We are a "Boy Led" troop.
Meetings take place every Monday Night at Christ Lutheran Church in East Northport . The meetings start at 7:30 PM and run until about 9:00 PM.
Troop 403 goes on about one camping trip per month, is constantly involved in community service and activities, and also goes to Camp Yawgoog for one week during the summer. (http://www.yawgoog.org/)
Troop 403 promises scouts the great outdoors, friendship, leadership opportunities, community service, and the ability to learn and practice life skills.

Why should I join Troop 403?
Troop 403 is a "Boy Led" troop. What does this mean? A boy led troop means that the scouts make the plans, coordinate equipment, etc. (Of course, all under adult supervision). Each scout will learn many life lessons, including leadership and responsibility. Aside from life lessons, scouts will also have fun while learning camping and outdoor skills, first aid, and more that will help each individual on a daily basis.
Troop 403 promises you the great outdoors. As a scout in Troop 403, you will learn how to camp and hike without leaving a trace and how to take care of the land. You'll study wildlife up close and learn about nature all around you. There are plenty of skills for you to master, and then teach to other scouts and people what you have learned. Everyone helping everyone else - That's scouting too.
Troop 403 promises you friendship. Members of Troop 403 you might already know, and others you will meet along the way. Some could become life long friends.
Troop 403 promises you opportunities to work towards the Eagle Scout Rank. You will set positive goals for yourself and then follow clear routes to achieve them.
Troop 403 promises you tools to help you make the most of your family, your community, and your nation. The good deeds you perform everyday will improve the lives of those around you. You will be prepared to help others in times of need, such as using the many first aid skills that you will learn.
Troop 403 promises you experiences and skills that will help you mature into a strong, wise, and successful adult. The Scout Oath and the Scout Law can guide you while you are a Scout and throughout your life.

Patrol Method
The Senior Patrol Leader is the Youth Leader of the Troop (SPL) . This is an elected position. The SPL will have assistants to help him.
Scouts are organized into Patrols with a Patrol Leader (PL) and Troop Guide. This position is assigned by the SPL and supported by the Scoutmaster.
The Senior Patrol Leader assigns all other troop Youth Leadership.
The Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meets monthly to discuss all troop business including troop meeting plans and trip plans. During this meeting, the Youth leadership discusses what is working, what needs changing and what they should be doing differently. Adult leaders attend this meeting in order to guide and support the Youth Leadership of the troop.
Patrol leaders have monthly Patrol meetings outside troop meetings in order to conduct patrol business.
