There are many youth organizations to choose from, such as sports, service clubs, and educational programs. As volunteers, we salute these organizations for their work with youth. The Scouting Program, however, goes above and beyond programs offered by traditional youth organizations.
Scouting provides activities that:
Encourage boys to try new things,
nurture love for the outdoors,
advocate service to others,
build self-confidence,
foster new friendships,
emphasize teamwork,
cultivate citizenship,
promote leadership skills,
and, most importantly, it's fun!
Troop 30 meets every Monday (excluding holidays and days off) at the Elks Lodge in Canandaigua at 7pm.
Most of our Scouts go to Canandaigua Schools or St. Mary's School, so when school is canceled, so is the regular meeting. We also do not meet on days off.
First, fill out an application! Applications can be found here to print for adults, and here for youth. You can also apply online!
Second, get a uniform and a handbook! Uniforms and books can be purchased at the Seneca Waterways Council office (see location below).
Review the "How to Protect Your Child from Child Abuse" pamphlet. It is in the front cover of the Boy Scout Handbook.
