Welcome to Troop 223. We are a very active Troop who loves spending time in the woods. Through our outdoor programs, we have three specific objectives, commonly referred to as the “Aims of Scouting.” They are character development, citizenship training and personal fitness.
When & Where: We meet every Tuesday Night from 7:00 to 8:30 at Calvary Chapel of Norman, 1401 W. Boyd St, Norman, OK 73069

Boys & Girl: Troop 223 has a boy troop and separate girl troop. Most activities of the two troops function independent from each other. This includes camping. Boys & girls do not camp together.
Age: Our Scouts range in age from 11 yrs to 17 years old; or having completed the 5th grade and completed the Arrow of Light award.
Adult Leaders: Our male & female adult leaders are volunteers who consist of our very own Eagle Scouts and parents of our Scouting youth. We are always looking for more adult leadership. Every adult leader of Troop 223 is required to undergo Youth Protection Training annually, to create a safe and protected environment for Scouting.
Your first campout is FREE. That’s right! Come check us out and see how much fun you can have.
We camp every month. Be sure to check out our camping calendar on the homepage.
Don’t have camping gear; No problem! You don’t need a lot of fancy new stuff to go have fun in the great outdoors. Many of our scouts often share tents. Oftentimes gear can be loaned out or just acquired along the way. (Refer to our Resources page for campout pack list)
What goes on during a campout: Depending on the event that is planned, Scouts may be canoeing down a river, building a survival shelter, hiking or even caving.
Summer Activities: Each summer we attend a week long scout camp as well as an out of state High Adventure trip.
Can Parents Attend? Absolutely! Whether you want to lend a hand in leadership & training or just relax around the campfire, parents are always welcome.
T223 uses the “pay as you go” system. Annual chartering with the BSA is $75. Uniform expenses can be as little as $40 out of pocket if you also take advantage of digging through our uniform closet. Monthly campout costs’ range from $10 to $30, depending on the event. (Your first campout is always free). Summer camp and high adventure trips are normally $250 or less. T223 does conduct annual fundraisers where our scouts are able to fund in part and/or in full their outings for the year. A need-based scholarship program is also available.
