The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The Scouting program has three specific objectives, commonly referred to as the “Aims of Scouting.” They are character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
The methods by which the aims are achieved are listed below in random order to emphasize the equal importance of each.
The Scout Oath, Law, Slogan, Motto & Outdoor Code
These are the "words to live by" for Scouts both in and out of uniform. They are asked memorize these so they know and follow them by heart.
