Troop 1 tries to spend two nights a month under the stars, in a tent, hammock, quinzhee, or cabin.
We have camped at Northern Star Council camps, at Minnesota and Wisconsin state parks, and National Forest Service primitive camps.
We're always looking for great places to camp and explore!
April 12, 2026 • Lake Nokomis Trash Pickup

• WHERE • Lake Nokomis North Parking Lot.
Our outdoor activity this month will be to hike around Lake Nokomis and pick up some of that trash that's been hiding underneath the snow all winter. Join us and earn some (conservation) service hours, and enjoy the outdoors.

By May, the weather should be nice enough for us to tent outside again. This is an unstructured campout where we can enjoy being outside, and work on rank advancement or merit badge requirements. We stay in a beautiful, tree-filled upper area of the camp, near Friendship Point overlook, in Snelling cabin.
Pack 1 is staying nearby, and we have the opportunity to welcome our incoming scouts, the Wavy Chocolate Pickle Jar of America the 2nd patrol, into the troop.

Explore the Superior Hiking Trail and gain experience backpacking without having to commit to a large trip. This trip is geared for younger scouts who have not been on a high adventure trip before, or for older scouts looking for a shorter easier trip that they can fit into a busy schedule.

We're attending Week 4 this year, in a new campsite, Menomonee.

• COST • $500
Camp on Madeline Island and spend 3 days sailing around the Apostle Islands in a 60' schooner.
