Scott and Jon first met through a mutual friend in the mid-2000s and were soon asked to play together at that friend’s wedding. The performance was a hit, and the two quickly bonded over a shared love of Wilco. They continued playing together for several months before life, distance, and responsibilities pulled them in different directions.

Years later, during the COVID pandemic, that same mutual friend suggested they reconnect over a “virtual beer,” reigniting both their friendship and musical chemistry. After spending time jamming acoustically in a basement, Scott and Jon tossed around the idea of playing a few local gigs. That idea soon became reality as they began performing at the now-closed Bradford Brew House with the first gig being Jan 12, 2023.

During one of those early shows, Scott invited his friend Tom to join them for a few songs, and the chemistry was immediate. Before long, Tom officially joined the group, forming the original lineup of Triple Fret. Armed with a cajón — still a bit of a mystery instrument to some audiences — Tom added rhythm and energy to the acoustic setup. Even after Bradford Brew House closed, the band continued landing gigs throughout the Merrimack Valley.

As the group evolved, Jon began incorporating electric guitar into the set, adding more edge and energy, while Scott introduced piano, helping shape the fuller Triple Fret sound audiences know today.

The final piece came together when Tom invited his friend Drew to sit in on bass during a basement rehearsal. The fit was undeniable, and Drew soon became a permanent member of the band. With four distinct musical backgrounds, influences, and personalities blending together, Triple Fret developed a sound all its own. Tom also expanded his setup by adding snare and hi-hat, giving the band a stronger rhythmic backbone and a more dynamic live presence.

Today, Triple Fret is a constantly evolving band that prides itself on bringing fresh songs and unexpected favorites to every performance. Drawing from a wide range of musical influences, their setlists are designed to surprise audiences with songs they forgot they loved — along with a few new favorites they may be hearing for the first time.

One of the unique strengths of Triple Fret is its flexibility. Depending on the venue and event, the band can perform as a 2-piece, 3-piece, or full 4-piece group, allowing them to tailor the experience to everything from intimate acoustic settings to high-energy full-band performances.

A Triple Fret show begins with a laid-back acoustic vibe and gradually builds into a full electric performance, increasing the energy throughout the night. The result is an engaging, crowd-friendly experience that keeps audiences entertained from start to finish and delivers a truly one-of-a-kind cover band performance.
