Gourav Das (CSIR JRF fellow) gouravdas352@gmail.com
As a research fellow of structural geology and tectonics, my work focuses on deciphering deformation mechanisms, fabric development, and paleostress conditions. I am passionate about unraveling the complexities of geological structures; their origin, and evolution. Through detailed fieldworks, laboratory analyses, and numerical simulations, I am aiming to contribute to our knowledge of Earth's dynamic evolution.
Anubhab Dey (Institute Fellow) anubhab.kv@gmail.com
I am interested in estimating magma overpressure from partially exposed mixed Mode dykes
Sudipta Sarkar (MoES Project Fellow) sudiptasarkar.malda76@gmail.com
I am interested on Fracture network Characterization from borehole cores. This project aims to characterize the fracture networks in Koyna region using borehole core images and samples. It focuses on analyzing fracture networks in the Deccan Trap basalts utilizing borehole core image from the Koyna Deep Continental Drilling Program in Western Maharashtra, India. These networks, defined by intersecting fractures created under diverse stress situations, substantially affect rock parameters including strength, fluid permeability, and geophysical characteristics.
Swagata Singha (Project Fellow) swagatas2701@gmail.com
I am working to understand the origin and occurrence of the deposits in Singhbhum Shear Zone, particularly the controls on ore mineralization and localization. A detailed study of structural patterns using the AMS analysis, physical analogue and numerical modeling will be adopted to comprehend the development of structural fabrics and the kinematic history of Singhbhum Shear Zone which would help to decipher the control of mineralization.
Kuntal Saha (Project Fellow) sahakuntal616@gmail.com
My project characterizes fracture network geometry, topology, and connectivity across the metavolcanic, metasedimentary, and granitic rocks of the Chitradurga Schist Belt, Western Dharwar Craton, aiming to quantify how these networks control rock permeability. Its objective is to identify the geological controls, such as host rock rheology, stress state, anisotropy, and shear zone proximity, that drive variations in fracture patterns and permeability. Its Applications include generating 2D permeability maps and improved conceptual models relevant to hydrothermal mineralization, geothermal resource modeling, fluid-induced seismicity, Hydrotharmal power, and radioactive waste disposal siting.
