NITYA SUNDARESWARA SWAMI TEMPLE TIRUNEDUNGALAM


Nityasundareswaraswami ( Thirunedungalanathaswami ) temple is at a village 5 kms north of Thiruverumbur via Thuvakudi .This temple of great antiquity, is included in the Kshertavenba of the Tamil saint, the Ayyadigal kadavarkon, who should be ascribed to the days before Appar and Sambandar. Varahi here is worshipped specially even by devotees of Coimbatore region with specific vows.

PARAMESWARAR TEMPLE- TIRUMANGALAM


Parasuramesvarar temple is near Lalgudi and is reached by turning left at the 15th kms from Tiruchy on the Tiruchy-Ariyalur road.From the main road, the village is 2 kms. And the main temple is dedicated to Samavedeeswarar and the amman is Loganayaki. The temple is a very old one dating back to the days of Rajaraja .

SAPTHARISHEESWARAR TEMPLE- LALGUDI

Thiruthavathuri, now called lalgudi, is situated on the banks of river Coleroon,(known also as north Cauvery,) about 20 kms from Tiruchy. The temple here has won a unique place among the temples of Tamilnadu, in that it was here that the seven rishes,atri, brihu, pulsithar, vasistar, gauthamar, aangeerasar and marichi, prayed the presiding deity, Saptharisheeswarar, to ward off the bad period they were passing through.The temple areas and mandapams were extended by the Parantaka kings.

THIUPARAITHURAI NATHAR TEMPLE- THIRUPPARAITHURAI

Thirupparaithurai is 20 kms from Tiruchy in Karur road. Name of the God is Paraithurainathar and the name of the Goddess is Ponmylambigai. Sambandar, Appar and Manikkavasagar have sung the deities here.The temple has huge walls and lies on the banks of Cauvery in green setting.

SAMBATHGOWRI AMMAN NANDHIKESWARAR SIVA TEMPLE THURIYUR


Arulmigu Maha Sambathgowri Amman - Nandhikeswarar Siva temple lies in the heart of the Thuraiyur town, 48 kms from Tiruchirappalli. The Lord is sung by Appar, Arunagirinathar and other Saivite saints. This temple is added with shrines during 8th - 14th centuries.It is said that Iyyanar, Pidari, Nagakanni, Indran, Thirumal, Venuvanamunivar, Parasaran have prayed the Lord Siva here. The temple tank is called 'Nandhi Theertham. It is told that the Sundra Chozhan, named the Linga here as 'Nandhikeswarar. There are many life size exquisitely carved stone sculptures in the temple. There is a Nagakanni Amman statue enshired in this temple .During all fridays, during Raghukalam (10.30 am to 12.00 Noon ) Special poojas are conducted for this Goddess, to expiate the sin of Raghu- Kethu, delay in marriages etc. There is a beautiful centre Mandapam (Maiya Mandapam) in a dilapidated condition in the big irrigation tank nearby the temple. Sri Vedantha Mahadesigar temple also lies here. During all festive days of Lord Siva, more number of devotees are visiting the Nandhikeswara temple.

KAMALAVALLI NACHIYAR TEMPLE, WORAIYUR


The presiding deity here is in the sitting posture with Shri Azhahiya Manavala Perumal standing behind . .This is the second of the 108 famous shrines of vishnu blessed with Mangalasasanam by Nammalvar. The temple is in existence even before 7 th century. The inner wall of the shrine of Nammalvar has brilliant wall paintings over 200 years old repainted 60 years back ,depicting the Matsa and Narashimha avatars , Acharyas, Alwars, Vaishnavite mythology ,the law of justice and dharma as enunciated by Ambarisha etc .

NANDRUDAYAN TEMPLE , EAST BOULEVARD ROAD, TIRUCHY


The Nandrudayan temple In Devadhanam ,in the east Boulevard Road , Tiruchy boasts Adi Vinayaga Granite Idol depicting Lord Ganesa with his original divine face without the usual elephantine head and the trunk.The four- feet tall Adi Vinayakar is installed In a separate shrine close to the sanctum sanctorum in the Nandrudayan Vinayakar Temple and the divine grace of the brilliantly sculptured granite idol is indeed captivating.


ALAGARAI VILLAGE -MUSIRI


Pieces of pottery, beads and bangles and other ceramic evidence helping to trace human history in the third or forth century before the Christian era have been found in excavation in this village.


PANCHANADISVARAR TEMPLE-ALLUR


The Panchanadeesvarar temple lies in Allur 10 kms from Tiruchy on the main road to Karur running along the southern bank of the Cauveri. The deity is called Thiru Vadagudi Paramesvarar ( or ) Mahadevar.

VADA TIRTHANATHAR TEMPLE -ANDANALLUR

Andanallur called Andavanallur in inscriptions lies on the road from Tiruchy to Karur, between Allur and Tiruchchendurai and 12 kms from Tiruchy. It has an ancient chola temple called Vada Tirthanathar ( or ) Thiru Alandurai Mahadevar.

ERUMBEESWARAR TEMPLE-THIRUVERUMBUR


This temple is located 15 kms east of Tiruchirappalli on the way to Thanjavur. In a 60 ft hillock lies the Erumbeeswarar Narun kuzhal nayagi temple build by early chola rulers. This temple is sung by the poet Appar. This temple is a protected monument under the control of the A.S.I. The sculptures and a dilapidated madapam and the fine garden maintained by BHEL is worth visiting. The temple tank and the temple car are of interest to the visitor.

SUNDARESWARER TEMPLE -NANGAVARAM

Nangavaram is 18 kms north west of Tiruchy .It has an ancient Sundareswarar temple and a Pidari temple. It is said that the daughter of a Chola king of Uraiyur was born with the face of a jackal and by her devotion to the lord of this place, she came to have the normal human features. Hence this place is called Mangai-varam ( or) Nangai-varam, whose correct form is Nangavaram. The village is called Arinjigai Sathur vedhimangalam. A stone panel with 24 Jain Theerthangaras is worth visiting here.

KAILASAMUDAIYAR TEMPLE- CHOLAMADEVI

Amidst lush green paddy fields and sylvan surroundings on the northern banks of Uyyakondan channel in a hamlet named Cholamadevi near Thiruverumbur, 12 kms from Tiruchy City, stands the dilapidated Kailasmudaiyar temple. It dates back to the 11th century (1065 A.D) and is a treasure house of historic information.

UYYAKONDANATHAR/UJJIVANESWARAR TEMPLE-UYYAKONDAN THIRUMALAI

Uyyakondanthirumalai is 5 kms from Tiruchirappalli. It is otherwise called Karkudi.Name of the God is Uyyakondanathar / Ujjivaneswarar and name of the Goddess is Maivizhiammai .The Temple lies in a small hillock and the main deity is facing western direction. There are two shrines for the Goddesses here. Sambandar, Appar and Sundarar have sung the God here.

SUNDARESWARAR TEMPLE- PALUR (PALUVUR)


Palur is a village in Tiruchy taluk. About 800 meters short of Allur on the Tiruchy -Karur road, a katcha road branches off in south to reach the hamlet, at the north-eastern corner of which is an early Chola siva temple, now called that of Sundareswarar. ( Nakkan Parameswarar )
