If you want a high-performance, all-season synthetic oil that protects your clutch and engine under the most severe racing or off-road conditions, choose Triax XTerra 4T; if you need a direct-fit replacement filter specifically engineered for Massimo, Hisun, and Colem-an utility vehicles to keep contaminants out of your lubrication system, choose Chikia Oil Filter.
• Triax XTerra 4T: Its biggest strength is advanced synthetic ester chemistry that ensures superior clutch engagement and thermal stability, but it is a fluid product rather than a mechanical part. This pick is for riders who demand race-ready protection in motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
• Chikia Oil Filter: Its biggest strength is its precise fitment for specific UTV models like the Massimo Gunner and Hisun series, ensuring clean oil flow, but it is strictly limited to those vehicle makes. This pick is for owners of those specific utility machines needing a reliable maintenance component.
The Triax XTerra 4T is designed for the rider who pushes their machine hard. Whether you are tearing up dirt trails on a four-stroke dirt bike, navigating tight corners on a quad, or riding through winter snow, this oil is built to handle the heat. This isn't just standard motor oil; it is engineered to deliver consistent performance under high thermal stress and high RPMs. If you ride aggressively or operate in extreme temperatures, the stability of this oil prevents the viscosity breakdown that plagues cheaper alternatives during severe service.
One of the most critical features for many motorcycle and ATV owners is wet clutch compatibility. Many oils can cause clutch slippage, which ruins the riding experience and damages components. The Triax XTerra 4T exceeds JASO MA-2 specifications, meaning it is explicitly formulated to work seamlessly with engines that have integrated transmissions and wet clutches. You get smooth, fast shifting and excellent clutch feel without sacrificing the protection needed for cam lobes, chains, and other highly loaded parts. It resists thickening, sludge, and varnish formation, keeping your engine internals cleaner over time compared to conventional options.
This product is ideal for owners of Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Bombardier, Arctic Cat, Can-Am, Polaris, Suzuki, and similar brands. It meets all Japanese OEM warranty requirements while exceeding them with API SL/SN standards. However, if you own a vehicle that requires a heavy-duty mineral blend for a different application, or if you simply need a filter rather than a lubricant, this is not the solution. It is a specialized fluid for high-performance small four-stroke engines. The trade-off is that it is a consumable fluid sold by the quart, so you will be buying it regularly as part of your maintenance routine rather than a one-time installation like a filter.

The Chikia Oil Filter serves a very specific, essential role in maintaining the health of certain Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs). Unlike the broad-spectrum lubricant of the Triax, this filter is an exact-match component for a defined list of machines. It also covers the MSA400, MSA500, MSA700, Alligator 500, Alligator 700, and Knight 500/700. Furthermore, it is compatible with Hisun models ranging from 250 to 750 CCs, including the 400, 450, 500, 550, and 750 variants. It even fits select CubCadet Challenger models and various Colem-an sizes.
Its primary function is straightforward yet vital: to act as a perfect cleaner of contaminants from engine oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, or hydraulic oil. In heavy-duty UTV applications, where dust, debris, and metal shavings are common, having a filter that effectively traps these particles is non-negotiable. A clogged or inefficient filter can lead to catastrophic engine failure, making the reliability of this part crucial for long-term ownership. The design is described as brand new and standard, intended to replace worn-out units in these specific machinery lines.
However, there is a significant limitation you must respect before purchasing. The manufacturer explicitly notes that this filter does not fit Massimo Buck UTVs. If you own a Massimo Buck, this item will not work, regardless of how well it fits your other needs. Additionally, it is not a universal filter; it is tailored to the specific bore and mounting points of the listed models. If you drive a generic car or a different brand of ATV not listed in the fitment guide, this product is irrelevant. It is a targeted solution for owners of specific American-made utility vehicles who need to ensure their oil circulation remains free of harmful particulates.
• Best for high-performance riding and racing → Triax XTerra 4T, due to its synthetic ester formula and JASO MA-2 compliance for wet clutches.
• Best for specific UTV maintenance → Chikia Oil Filter, because of its precise engineering for Massimo, Hisun, and Colem-an models.
• Best for extreme heat and high RPMs → Triax XTerra 4T, as it offers superior oxidation stability and shear-stable VI improvers.
• Best for contaminant removal in heavy-duty vehicles → Chikia Oil Filter, designed to clean engine, transmission, and hydraulic oils of debris.
• Best for broad brand compatibility → Triax XTerra 4T, working across major manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, and Polaris.
• Best for direct-fit replacement → Chikia Oil Filter, provided your vehicle matches the specific model years and series listed.
• Best for preventing sludge and varnish → Triax XTerra 4T, thanks to its high oxidation stability.
• Best for protecting clutch plates → Triax XTerra 4T, with optimized frictional characteristics that prevent slip.
• Best for hydraulic and transmission systems → Chikia Oil Filter, capable of filtering multiple fluid types within the specified UTVs.
I recommend the Triax XTerra 4T for pet owners who enjoy outdoor adventures with their dogs, especially if they ride motorcycles, ATVs, or snowmobiles. When you take your pets on rough trails, you need a machine that performs reliably in mud, dust, and extreme weather. The Triax oil provides the necessary protection against the high thermal stress and vibration that off-roading generates, ensuring your engine stays cool and shifts smoothly no matter how far you go with your companion. While the Chikia filter is excellent for specific UTV owners, the Triax oil addresses the broader, more dynamic needs of active riders who prioritize performance and longevity across a wide range of vehicles. I would buy the Triax XTerra 4T because it actively enhances the driving experience and protects the engine's heart under pressure.
Yes, the Triax XTerra 4T exceeds JASO MA-2 specifications, making it fully compatible with wet clutch integrated transmissions found in most modern motorcycles and ATVs without causing slippage.
The Chikia Oil Filter fits Massimo Gunner and MSU/MSA series models, Hisun 250–750 series, Colem-an 400–750 series, and select CubCadet Challenger models, but it does not fit Massimo Buck UTVs.
No, the Chikia Oil Filter is a specific replacement part only for the listed Massimo, Hisun, Colem-an, and CubCadet models; it is not a universal filter for all engines.
