At the Triangle Bengali Association (TBA), our year begins with one of the most cherished and culturally significant bengali festivals — Bashanta Panchami, marking the advent of spring and the celebration of knowledge, learning, and creativity. Saraswati Puja is observed annually in India on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha during the month of Magha, which usually falls in January or February. This auspicious day is widely known as Vasant Panchami or Basant Panchami. It signifies the end of winter and the onset of spring — a season that brings renewal, color, and vitality to nature and to our spirits.
The festival is dedicated to Maa Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of learning, music, arts, wisdom, and science. She is often depicted gracefully seated on a white lotus, dressed in white, and playing the veena — symbolizing the harmony of knowledge and creativity. At TBA, we uphold this tradition with deep reverence, beginning our calendar year by paying homage to Saraswati Devi and celebrating the power of knowledge, intellect, and the arts. One of the most beautiful aspects of this celebration at TBA is the enthusiastic participation of our community members, especially the youth and students.
We look forward to this celebration each year, as it embodies the spirit of renewal, creativity, and reverence for knowledge — values that remain at the heart of our community.
