Triangle Bengali Association at North Carolina (TBA@NC) is a vibrant cultural organization founded by Bengali students pursuing their studies in the North Carolina Triangle area, encompassing Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Established with the vision of fostering a sense of community and preserving Bengali heritage far from home, TBA@NC serves as a welcoming hub for Bengalis and others of all ages—students, professionals, families, and enthusiasts alike—to connect, celebrate, and share in the rich traditions of Bengal.
At the heart of our activities are our annual events, which we organize on a modest yet heartfelt scale. Sharodiya, our celebration of Durga Puja during the autumn season, brings the spirit of festivity alive with pujo rituals, cultural performances, and delectable Bengali cuisine that reminds us of the grand pandals back home. Similarly, Basanta Panchami, honoring Goddess Saraswati, features artistic expressions, educational sessions, and vibrant yellow-themed gatherings that invoke the arrival of spring and the pursuit of knowledge.
Excited by the growing enthusiasm from our members, we are actively expanding our initiatives to include a broader array of cultural events. This year, we're thrilled to introduce Poila Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, with traditional music, dance, and feasts that usher in fresh beginnings and communal joy. Additionally, Rabindra Jayanti will pay homage to the legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore through recitals, discussions, and artistic tributes, allowing us to delve deeper into Bengal's literary and musical legacy. These expansions reflect our commitment to evolving as a dynamic group that not only preserves but also innovates ways to engage with our cultural roots in a modern American context.
We cordially invite everyone living in or around the Triangle area—whether you're a long-time resident, a newcomer, or simply someone interested in exploring Bengali culture—to join us in our events. Participation is open to all, and we encourage you to bring your unique talents, whether it's performing on stage, volunteering behind the scenes, or simply attending to soak in the warmth of our gatherings. By joining TBA@NC, you'll not only experience authentic Bengali festivities but also build lasting friendships, network with like-minded individuals, and contribute to a supportive community that bridges generations and backgrounds.
In a proud milestone for our association, we have recently launched our own Sharodiya magazine named "ছাতিম" (Chatim), inspired by the resilient Chatim tree symbolizing strength and growth in Bengali folklore. This annual publication features contributions from our members, including poetry, short stories, artwork, and reflections on life in the diaspora. It serves as a creative platform to showcase talents, share personal narratives, and document our journey as a community. Copies are distributed during our events, and we're always open to submissions from budding writers and artists.
To stay updated on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, or ways to get involved, follow us on our social media channels (Facebook, and Instagram) or visit our website. Whether you're seeking a taste of home or a new cultural adventure, TBA@NC is here to welcome you with open arms. Let's celebrate Bengal together in the heart of North Carolina!
