Stewards of the Future

The Stewards of the Future Program is an opportunity that allow youth, ages 15-18, to engage with the National Park Service and these three National Historic Sites: Frederick Law Olmsted NHS, John Fitzgerald Kennedy NHS, Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters NHS. The stewards are tasked with the challenge of creating a program aimed towards their own peers to encourage them to engage with the historic sites. The theme of this years program is nature and the environment. In being prompted to create a program emphasizing the connection between the historic figures and their stewardship and conservation of the environment, the stewards decided to create these virtual escape rooms.

Abby

Hi, I am one of the stewards at the Longfellow- Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site! I am entering my junior year of high school this fall. I applied for this internship because I love the national parks and learning about history!

Anna

Hi, I am the steward for the John F. Kennedy site! My pronouns are she/her/hers and my favorite color is green. I am going to be a senior in high school this coming fall. I applied for this internship because I like both history and biology and I was super excited to see how conservation connects to these historical sites!

Hi, I am the steward for the Frederick Law Olmsted site! My pronouns are she/her/hers and my favorite color is blue. I am a senior in high school and an upcoming freshmen in college. I applied for this internship because I like the serenity of nature. I am excited to use the skills I learned from this internship in college!

Hi, I am a steward for the Longfellow house- Washington's headquarters. I am a rising sophomore in high school this fall. I applied for this internship because it is related to history which is my favorite subject in school, and I enjoy going to national parks. I thought it would be exciting to work with the National Park Service which it has been!
