Tri-Hai Nguyen is the Deputy Head (Acting Head) of the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, Van Lang University, and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence, The Catholic University of Korea. He also coordinates the Global Standard Program (formerly the Honors Program) in Information Technology at Van Lang Global School.
He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Chung-Ang University (2022), his M.Eng. in Information and Communication Technology from Soongsil University (2017), and his B.S. in Computer Science, as valedictorian, from the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM (2015). From 2022 to 2024, he was a Postdoctoral Research Professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
His research applies deep reinforcement learning, computer vision, and swarm intelligence to IoT and UAV-based systems. He serves as an editor for PLOS One, PeerJ Computer Science, Discover Computing, and Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences.
Oct 2026: Three journal papers accepted: multi-agent TD3 for HAPS-assisted multi-UAV aerial edge computing (ICT Express), energy-efficient semantic routing in multi-UAV relay networks (Journal of Network and Computer Applications), and a survey on graph representation learning in computer vision (PeerJ Computer Science).
Aug 2026: Appointed Deputy Head (Acting Head), Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, Van Lang University.
Jul 2026: Received the Best Paper Award at IAAA 2026, Ho Chi Minh City.
2025: Received the Outstanding Performance Award, Van Lang University (AY 2024–2025).
