Chamber Singers

About

Chamber Singers is the newest ensemble in the TRHS Choir Program and is made up of a select, small group of singers from Vivace. This chamber ensemble consists of between 16-24 Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses, and meets before school twice a week to rehearse. Beyond the regular choir concerts, Chamber Singers go above and beyond to perform wherever and whenever they can, whether that might be a dinner party, an assembly, or putting on an extra concert near the holidays. Students in this ensemble are self motivated, passionate, hard working, humorous, and all around great people to be around.

Comments from the Chamber Singers

"My experience in Chamber Choir has been amazing! Even though waking up early for rehearsal is a bit of a daunting task, it has been more than worth it. I’ve had some great performance opportunities I never would have had outside of Chamber Choir and sang some incredible songs. It’s been one of the most memorable and enjoyable aspects of my high school experience!" -Camille A.

"Choir has been one of the best experiences in my high school career. I have been in many different choirs, whether it be Advanced Mixed choir or in Women's choir (Hillcrest) to Vivace, or Chamber Choir (Thunder Ridge), I have not regretted taking any of them. Going to Thunder Ridge to Hillcrest my junior year, I was scared. I was scared of change, especially not knowing who my choir teacher was going to be or who people in the class were. I definitely was not disappointed though, because It has been a wonderful experience. Not only have I grown in my singing abilities, I have also grown so many friendships. Choir at Thunder Ridge has been a place where I could really open up and be myself. Everyone in the choir has been so welcoming and I never once second guessed or dreaded to walk into choir. My senior year I got the opportunity to be the Vice President in Vivace. It has given me so many lessons that I know will help me a lot in the future. I have learned to be a leader, a planner, and overall a friend to everyone. I loved working with Mrs. Gardner to help grow choir in so many different ways. I am very glad to have this opportunity to not only be the Vice President, but to be a friend, better singer, and a better person. I never really knew what exactly to expect everyday when I walked into class, but without a doubt I knew it would be wonderful." -Whitney F.

"Hands-down the best class of my high school career, and that is saying something. Chamber Singers is a stellar opportunity to perform the music you love and do it well. With the small ensemble comes the flexibility to be a big part of choosing the repertoire. The singers, though few, are dedicated, funny, and love music with a passion. You will come to be best friends with these people you perform with. Chamber Singers is truly an opportunity of a lifetime." -Christian L.

"Chamber is a lot of fun, and is super easy to overlook/miss the opportunity of doing it. We get to sing all of the craziest most entertaining songs in this part of choir. We also get to do special performances every now and then all around the city. If you want to sign up for this class, or you’re swaying back and forth between taking or not taking, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! A few of the people in Chamber were seniors and are leaving, and there are not a lot of openings to get in. I personally was lucky to get in because there were not a lot of men in the class at that time, and I have not regretted that decision, so don’t waste time if you want to take the class, or you may never get the opportunity at all. Also good luck to those who are auditioning to get into Chamber choir." -Kamden R.

"My experience in Chamber Choir has been absolutely amazing. It has really helped me get out of my shell more and do things that I wouldn’t have done otherwise. It has helped me get better at my singing skills and get a little bit better at being more engaging to the audience. Chamber Choir has been more than just a singing group, we are a singing family, and that has been really important to me as it is what makes choir special. We each have the commitment, the energy, and the connection to each other, to make our music shine. Chamber Choir will forever be one of the best choir experiences I’ve had and I would totally recommend it to anyone that is thinking about joining!" -Kaiden L.

"Chamber Singers has been one of the highlights of my high school career thus far. From the excitement to making it in and being part of the many “firsts” for the choir department at Thunder Ridge, to meeting some of my best friends, to performing in some of the most unique places in Idaho, Chamber truly is a ride to remember. The practices are early, yes, I myself struggled with that for a bit, but the people there and the music learned makes every minute there worth it. You aren’t shamed for walking in late, (I should know), and people are understanding and supportive. You make some of your best friends in Chamber, because you spend so much time together. The music we learn is difficult, but so worth it. It requires practice outside of class often times, but there was nothing more exhilarating than the feeling of nailing a song on stage because of the hours spent with your friends in practice rooms, bonding and singing and laughing, and yes sometimes being off task, (sorry Mrs. Gardner) but eventually getting the job done. Chamber is truly the experience of a lifetime, performing in unique places with your best friends, and the early morning bus rides and carpools and karaoke, the holiday parties and the out of class get-togethers, the memories made in Chamber Choir can rival ones made by any sports team. Because believe it or not, choir is a sport. It takes commitment, and time, and practice, and endurance, and a lotta faith. You have a team, singing with you and supporting you that never lets you feel alone. You have a coach, your director, who works tirelessly to make sure you are being the best singer you can be. Chamber Choir is the best team you can be on, and is always looking for more team players like you." -Tobin O.
