About me...

I am a doctoral student in the Transformative Learning in the Global Community program in the School of Education at Webster University. My research interest is racial equity, systemic barriers and internships impact on career success.

My current role at Webster University is Director, Internship Program in the School of Communications. My over 20 years as a career development practitioner and my new role working directly with students bridging the gap between academic and professional experience, I am excited about learning more that can assist me in becoming a transformative educator. Education has always been my passion. I've served many roles, instructor, professor, facilitator, all leading me to student services. When I first began serving in higher education, it was assisting students in the beginning of their academic journey in the admissions department at a large state university. My most recent role has brought me to the career launch and the experiences that shape the next journey. Guiding students through the internship process, is what sparked my interest in racial equity and systemic barriers, internships, looking closely at unpaid internships, it's impact on career success. I am interested in researching a variety of student populations including African Americans, DREAMers, and women. I am an advocate for the marginalized seeking higher education and personal career success. As a first generation African American women college graduate, I am eager to learn more about how I can use my own experience as a catalyst for understanding and change the way we shape the next generation of career seekers!
