The Natural Gas price at the EU Dutch TTF hub (DUTCH TTF NATURAL GAS CALENDAR MONTH FUTURES (CONTINUOUS: CURRENT CONTRACT IN FRONT)) is in EUR/MWh trade. In dollars per thousand cubic meters, it will be equal to: EUR/MWh*10,5*Rate EUR/USD. For example price on 28.03.22 TTF hub = 101,270 EUR, Rate EUR/USD =1,09622.
Price in $ per m3 on date 28.03.22: 101,270*10,5* 1,09622=1165,65$
Price in $ per m3 on date 28.03.22: 23,690*10,5* 1,07066=266,32$ or 248,74€
The Natural Gas price at the USA Henry hub (Benchmark futures with the ticker NG trade on the NYMEX and are quoted in millions of British thermal units (MMBtu)) in USD/MMBtu. In dollars/USA per thousand cubic meters, it will be equal to: USD/MMBtu*35,8. For example price on 30.03.22 TTF hub = 109,350 EUR.
Price in $ per m3 on date 30.03.22: 5,330*35,8=190,81$
It is important to remember that US gas prices do not take into account the final cost to the consumer, including transportation, liquefaction (regasification) costs, insurance, seller profitability. Therefore, the difference by several times from European and Asian prices should not be misleading.
Gas prices in Asia are measured in the same units as in the US, i.e. $/MMBtu. The benchmark is the Platts JKM indicator, which is calculated using spot prices. On the CME exchange, you can find the corresponding futures with the ticker JKM.
