At Treehouse World, you can explore several treehouses, wander on a nature path, visit bunnies and chickens, pick fruit in season, and play games (schedule changes daily.) Each day, you can also add these exciting extras:

Treehouse World is a fun destination for people who love treehouses. We have arboreal adventure activities like rock climbing up tree trunks, aerial bridges, a giant swing, and ziplines. And, of course, we have real treehouses to experience. We welcome groups for parties and events anytime, and individuals to come on their own anytime that we are open. We also teach treehouse building at workshops every year, and people come from all over the world to experience treehouses and learn the principles of building in trees for a weekend.

Let the kids play in the elaborate and fantastic treehouses and explore the Small Animal Mini-Farm, which is growing by sets of four all the time. A rabbit, chickens and guinea hens are the furry and feathered friends who roam the grounds of the mini-farm. Children can interact with the animals and even feed the rabbit, who is particularly fond of dandelions and wildflowers.

At the edge of the Children's Grove there is a fun treehouse to explore! See how fast you can conquer the netting on the first level to get to the top! It's grown-up friendly, too, so of course I had to get in on the fun.

These activities are just the beginning of what is to come at Treehouse World. There is more fun being planned and developed as you read this! My kids were excited to learn of the train-themed treehouse currently under construction complete with train cars that you can climb up and walk around on. Stay tuned to see what else is coming to Treehouse World. You can follow the updates on the Treehouse World website or Facebook page. Keep an eye on the Macaroni Kid calendar for more great event information as well.

A watering hole could be seen out front of the treehouse and we saw many animals cross over the land to go get a drink. The coolest part of the treehouse experience was having three giraffes hanging around the treehouse. In the evening, through the night, and early in the morning, we would wake to find the giraffes feeding off the trees surrounding us.

I-40 exit 320, turn north onto Hwy 298 and then a quick right onto Cook Rd. Follow about 1/2 mile and as the road takes a sharp right, instead make a sharp left onto Beehive Lane. Continue about 1/4 mile and you will be in front of the treehouse.

Dan Wright went out on a limb in 2003 when he founded Tree Top Builders, but it wasn't without precedent. Treehouse construction was actually the culmination of several of his past life experiences. He and his dad built a tree house when he was 8 years old. He used it year round, whether to stockpile water balloons or snow balls. A few years later, he built a 41 foot high tree house platform, zip line, climbing wall, and ropes course at a youth camp in New Hampshire. Over the years, he helped maintain and facilitate the use of 4 different challenge courses. Finally, after gathering years of carpentry experience as a custom ground house builder, he branched out into the treehouse realm.

Building Tree Houses came relatively naturally to Dan, but he nevertheless committed himself to learning the best practices of building smarter, safer treehouses. He read the work of the late Dr. Alex Shigo and Dr. Claus Mattheck and learned how trees respond to wounds; which is essential to choosing the right tree house fasteners for each specific application. He partnered with and learned from countless arborists and networked with other treehouse builders around the world. Their decades of experience provided Dan the insight he needed to adopt, develop, and improve the best tree house fastening systems; as well as the knowledge to provide follow-up tree care on treehouses all over the country.

Dan is well respected by other professional tree house builders on both coasts of the US. One of the greatest joys of building tree houses is working alongside other treehouse professionals, combining decades of experience and expertise, and focusing our collective knowledge on making the best possible tree houses. Dan Wright is a talented carpenter, a friend of trees and the outdoors, and can wield a circular saw with amazing skill. He is involved in all aspects of Tree Top Builders from complex design support, carpentry during the busy season, tree climbing, and some administration. Dan is available for tree house consulting and design appointments, as well as speaking with the media and guest writing. But good luck catching him when he's not hanging from a rope somewhere building a treehouse!

Umm.. I'm just going to come out and say it, if you don't think treehouses are awesome, then we probably can't be friends... It's nothing personal, per se.. More just something that's "rooted" (ha!) in fundamental values... or the possibility that you were never a child. However, if you're open to me trying to change your mind about these ethereal wonders of the world, then there might be hope for our friendship after all. If so, my campaign begins: NOW.

This post was inspired by my latest addiction... Treehouse Masters. A TV show of which the title leaves little to the imagination about the topic of the show but which the content contained within this wild series is beyond your imagination. It's a show on Animal Planet (huh?) about this builder/dad/treehouse-fanatic who is known in the treehouse world as THE GUY if you're in the market for a dwelling amongst the leaves. The show follows him around as he builds tree houses for people who have commissioned him to build their fantasy foliage flat. And if that topic weren't enthralling enough, the host, Pete Nelson, is a hoot to watch (treehouse pun points?). I HIGHLY recommend it.

But enough about my slothful habits, let's get on with it shall we? I may still have some convincing to do! I've compiled a cornucopia of tricked out treehouses to incite your envy and show you how these elevated abodes can blend nature and comfort in perfectly magical way. Essentially a home in the sky, a treehouse is the closest our modern world has come to taking full advantage of our air rights. And if that real estate concept doesn't get you all hot and bothered about tree houses, then maybe these architectural masterpieces I've "rustled up," will. Prepare to be BLOWN away (bahaha!) So sit your trunk down and enjoy the show! (last one, I swear). 2351a5e196
