Carlo Aonzo Trio with special guest Tony Williamson (winner of the 2018 North Carolina Heritage Award)
CARLO AONZO has toured throughout Italy, Europe, Japan, the USA and Canada as one of the major representatives and scholars of the Italian classical mandolin, performing both as a soloist and with chamber ensembles and orchestras. In addition to Carlo, the trio features Lorenzo Piccone on guitar and Luciano Puppo on double bass.
This was a unique opportunity to share music in an intimate setting with world class musicians. The band presented us with an amazing evening of humor and a wide range of musical styles. In particular, the program included an interesting repertoire of Italian folk music, chosen among the evergreens of the Italian national tradition, arranged with the unique personal ‘Carlo Aonzo Trio’ style. As if that weren't enough, Tony Williamson, winner of the 2018 NC Heritage Award, joined in his mandolin as well!
