The TREE Lab is currently located in Howell Hall 309 on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma.
For field work, the lab currently has Stihl chainsaws for collecting cross-sections and increment borers of various sizes for collecting increment core samples.
For processing samples, the TREE lab currently has a belt sander and orbital sander. We utilize progressively finer sandpapers (up to 1200 grit) in order to visualize individual cells of wood for tree-ring analysis.
Tree-ring width measurements and crossdating are important for proper analysis of tree-rings. The TREE lab utilizes a Velmex TA measurement system, J2X software, and AmScope boom stereo microscope for measuring and recording tree-ring widths.
