About Treaty Oak Revival
Treaty Oak Revival or "TOR" is an American country music band from Texas. They were first formed in 2018 as a cover band in Odessa, Texas. The band originally started with lead singer Sam Canty, guitarists Lance Vanley and Jeremiah Vanley, bassist Andrew Carey and drummer Cody Holloway, and would later add drummer Kelly McKay. There style of music includes country rock, southern rock, and their own style of West Texas rock. They are influenced by traditional Texas "red dirt" country and combined this with their own southern rock style.
Career Highlights
Since its creation, the band has released 2 albums and 5 singles/EPs. There top 5 most popular songs include, "Ode To Bourbon-Live", "No Vacancy", "Missed Call", "I'm The Worst", and "In Between". All of these songs have over 40 million streams on Spotify.
Treaty Oak Revival's Impact
Treaty Oak Revival is not your typical country band. Their music does not follow the common acoustic guitar and traditional backup instruments that normal country music has. They also don't sing about fishing, drinking a cold beer, or falling in love, like you might hear in other country songs. Most of their songs revolve around the dark parts of life, like having a relationship that ends horribly, alcoholism, and the sad reality of being a hooker. These songs are also revolutionary in the fact that the instruments they use sound more like they should be in a metal band. Electric guitars, heavy drums, and loud vocals can commonly be found in their songs. Safe to say, Treaty Oak Revival is not your parents country band.
Influence
Simply put, Treaty Oak Revival doesn't have an influence. They create their own genre of music. Now this is not to say that they don't have elements that their music resembles. Their style is somewhat of a Texas red dirt country, mixed with southern rock sound. This is what makes the band so unique. Breaking the barriers of what country music should sound like is what makes them who they are, and what makes them so popular.
