Laser treatment is a safe and effective way to treat thread veins, which are thin red or blue lines in the skin. The laser heats up the blood vessels, causing them to break down and fade away.
How it works
A patch test is usually required at least 48 hours before the treatment. You may be advised to stop using retinol and avoid sun exposure for a period of time before the treatment.
During the thread vein laser treatment, a concentrated beam of light is applied over the area. The light heats up the vein, causing it to collapse in on itself. The damaged vein is gradually removed by the body's immune system.
Benefits
It can treat fine facial thread veins
It can also treat leg thread veins
It is a non-invasive procedure with minimal risk
What to expect
Some bruising may occur on the skin's surface.
The treated vessels may temporarily swell, but this should go down within a few days.
The healing process can take 2–8 weeks.
The number of treatments needed depends on the individual veins. Some veins may only require a single session, while others may need a course of treatments.
