Travis Candieas is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara Gevirtz School of Education.
Candieas's research interests include developing and applying generalized latent variable modeling techniques in causal inference settings. His applied research focuses on education and workforce development policy ranging from multisite college access programs, STEM education programs, and international education programs. His work has been presented at various conferences, and his technical reports have been used for regional planning and implementation of education and workforce development initiatives.
Candieas earned his B.A. degree in International Relations and History with an emphasis in World Trade and Development and minor in Education from UC Davis. He earned M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Policy & Leadership from UC Santa Barbara.
Candieas's research and teaching focuses on the application and development of quantitative methods for social science and policy research. Click the collapsible groups below to learn more.
Candieas's research on policy analysis and evaluation focuses on integrating unobservable variables in causal inference. This research focuses on applying and developing generalized latent variable modeling techniques (e.g., factor analysis, structural equation modeling, finite mixtures, etc.) in quasi-experimental design and causal inference settings. His methodological research has been presented at the American Evaluation Association annual conference.
