Travis Candieas is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara Gevirtz School of Education.
Candieas is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. Candieas's research focuses on program evaluation and policy analysis with an emphasis in quantitative methods in the social sciences. He is interested in applied quasi-experimental design and latent variable modeling. His research experience includes evaluating non-profit, education, and workforce development programs, longitudinal outcomes of intervention programs, and student experiences internationally across institutions of higher education. His academic research focuses on validating and improving statistical models for real-world applications, specifically in postsecondary education and workforce development settings.
Candieas earned his B.A. degree in International Relations and History with an emphasis in World Trade and Development and minor in Education from UC Davis. He earned M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Policy & Leadership from UC Santa Barbara.

Policy analysis and evaluation
Candieas's research on policy analysis and evaluation focuses on integrating unobservable variables in causal inference. This research focuses on applying and developing generalized latent variable modeling techniques (e.g., factor analysis, structural equation modeling, finite mixtures, etc.) in quasi-experimental design and causal inference settings. His methodological research has been presented at the American Evaluation Association annual conference.

Candieas's applied research and evaluation focus on a broad range of issues in education and workforce development. His project history includes multisite programs, pre-college programs, STEM education programs, and international education programs among other programs and projects.
