Special Call for Papers
Special AEP35 Call for Posters for 2024 TRB Annual Meeting
The AEP35 Committee on The Effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on Transportation Choices welcomes submissions for posters to be presented at the 103rd TRB Annual Meeting to be held in January 2024 in Washington DC.
Submissions on research that is particularly timely (e.g., latest findings, new topics, results from pilots, etc.) that could not be summarized in a full paper submitted through the regular call for TRB papers are welcome. Student-led submissions are particularly welcome for this call and will be given priority for consideration.
In their submission, the authors should explain why their contribution should be considered for poster presentation at the 2024 TRB annual meeting. Topics of potential interest for this call include all topics covered by the scope of the AEP35 committee, including, but not limited to:
Traveler’s response to new transportation options and impacts of information;
Remote/hybrid work, activity participation and associated mobility and land use implications;
Awareness, adoption and use of ICT and emerging mobility services (e.g. ridehailing, carsharing, micromobility, etc.);
Mobility as a Service (MaaS);
Mobile ICT (and use of ICT while traveling);
Social media, crowdsourcing, and other new mechanisms for collecting and sharing travel information;
Analytical approaches for inferring travel and social behaviors from existing and emerging online data sources;
Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the future of mobility;
Artificial Intelligence concepts and underlying technologies;
5G and related, high-speed, ubiquitous connectivity technologies in both stationary and mobile contexts;
Immersive technologies (virtual, augmented, mixed reality);
Internet of Things, including advanced domestic technologies.
Submissions are due by the end of Thursday, September 21. Authors would be notified of whether their submission has been accepted in the first half of October.
Papers that have already been submitted for TRB 2024 through the regular Call for Papers (and are currently under review) are NOT eligible for this call.
Interested authors should send one document in PDF format by email to the AEP35 Committee Paper Review Coordinators Mahmudur Fatmi (mahmudur.fatmi@ubc.ca) and Venu Garikapati (Venu.Garikapati@nrel.gov).
The document should include the following components:
Submission title

Statement confirming that the research has not been already submitted and is not currently under review through the regular TRB call for papers
Statement on whether the work qualifies as a student-led submission (with identification of the student(s) among the coauthors)
Statement (2-3) sentences explaining why this submission should be considered for poster presentation at TRB, explaining the novelty of the results, recent findings that were not available in time to write a full paper for the regular TRB call for papers, etc.
Extended abstract (500 to 750 words), summarizing the research goals and objectives of the study, the data (if any) and methods that are used, key findings of the research, and summary conclusions and implications.
