From Classroom Teacher to EdTech Strategist
My journey began in the classroom, where I taught middle school for over a decade. Those 12 years gave me a deep understanding of what teachers truly need to make technology work in real classrooms—tools that save time, strategies that work with diverse learners, and support that goes beyond the surface. I experienced firsthand the struggles of balancing instructional demands with the pressure to integrate new technologies, and it fueled my desire to make that process easier and more impactful for others.
In 2012, I stepped into a new role as a Technology Integration Specialist at Topeka Public Schools, where I’ve since led dozens of district-wide initiatives aimed at transforming instruction through technology. My work includes everything from developing training programs to launching AI-powered learning tools and facilitating district-wide PD days.
Serving as an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University gave me the opportunity to bridge theory and practice—staying sharp on research while grounding my work in the realities of school systems. My time as an Assistant Principal further deepened my insight into school leadership and organizational change.
Building Expertise at the Intersection of Innovation and Instruction
Over the past 12+ years, I’ve specialized in high-impact areas like AI in education, blended learning, Google Workspace, PBL, SAMR, and curriculum design. I’ve served on the KSDE A.I. Taskforce, contributed to writing Kansas’ Computer Science Standards, and currently sit on the Board of Directors for MACE-KS—the Kansas affiliate of ISTE.
For me, rigorous tech integration isn’t just about knowing tools—it’s about aligning them to student outcomes, ensuring equity, and designing with intentionality. I’m especially passionate about the future of AI in education, and I work closely with schools to explore how we can use it ethically and effectively to enhance—not replace—great teaching.
When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative, personalized, and action-oriented approach. My workshops and consulting sessions are grounded in real classroom experience, informed by research, and delivered with practical strategies educators can use immediately. I prioritize:
Strategic planning that aligns with district goals
Interactive and hands-on PD sessions
Ongoing coaching and support
A focus on sustainable impact over one-and-done sessions
I believe in empowering educators—not overwhelming them—with tools and frameworks that elevate both teaching and learning. Ethics and equity guide everything I do, especially when helping schools explore the responsible use of AI.
Let’s Build the Future of Learning Together
I’m more excited than ever about what lies ahead for EdTech. From personalized learning journeys to AI-supported instruction, we’re on the brink of a new era—and I want to help schools lead that change with confidence and care.
