This really is the best way to see Amritsar. We only had 2 days and booking Balwinder Singh and his wonderful driver Mr Rajiv was a great way to achieve so much in a stress free manner. I certainly would recommend them both to anyone who plans to visit Amritsar. Balwinder is very knowledgeable and has perfect English and his explanation of Sikhism really meant we got the most out of our trip to the Golden Temple. He listened to what was important for us to see and experience - from joining in the Langar to helping prepare some of the food. It was a magical visit and we saw so much more having Balwinder with us. His time tip on when to return to the Temple for the evening ceremony was perfect. We arrived at the Wagah border ceremony with just the right amount of time to enjoy the spectacle. Also his restaurant suggestions were excellent with Mr Rajiv happy to take us back to our hotel when we were finished. All in all a safe, fun and enjoyable way to see Amritsar.

The main reasons for which we have decided to choose Mr Balwinder Singh as our guide were: his very quick reaction to our mails, very detailed answers, full flexibility (he was ready to adopt to our specific requirements and he was thinking how to do it in the best way), reasonable price. Three month before arrival we had everything agreed. I like this system – not to wait till the last moment. When we were in Delhi he called to the hotel just to confirm that he would wait for us at the airport and to assure us that everything is prepared. We spent in Amritsar about 24 hours and wanted to see during this time as much as possible – of course keeping reasonable speed. Mr Singh arranged the car with the driver (we wanted this concept of transport), so we had a transport from and to the airport as well as to all visited places and all the time he was walking with us. So full personal guide with the highest quality.
In the Golden Temple our guide was walking with us, explaining all places round Golden Temple related to Sikh religious, explained all religious practices we observed in the Temple complex. We stood in the queue to get inside about 1 hour and his estimation about waiting time was very precious. It was really very good to visit Golden Temple with Mr Singh as we are sure that he provided us in comprehensive form information which is time consuming to find it reading Internet. During the tour in Golden Temple Mr Singh tried to adopt everything to our needs by asking us if we are going to see, to visit or we want to skip concrete place inside complex. And the speed of walk was really adopted to our preferences. In the Golden Temple he led us to all floors – not only to the main part but also both levels upstairs (not so crowded so I suspect that many people don't know that it is possible to go there) – so we have seen in details the whole Golden Temple. The whole tour in Golden Temple complex took us slightly more than 2 hours.
Before departure to Wagah Border Ceremony Mr Singh proposed us the meeting in the lobby at the time which allowed us to come to the ceremony just on time, not wasting our time. He is really very good in time calculation and forecast. At Wagah Border ceremony he arranged us very good seats and the possibility to get with the car close to the boarder what was crucial for my daughter with reduced mobility. It was really great arrangement!
In Jallianwala Bagh we have got from him again very interesting explanation what happened there. On the way back to the hotel we went to the market to buy some things and Mr Singh was very helpful trying to help us to find exactly what we wanted to buy. Our tour included also two other interesting places - Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and to Durgiana Temple (both proposed by our guide). Thanks to Mr Singh we were able to see a lot of places in Amritsar during the sort time we were there and to get a lot of information about visited places.
