5 Reasons Why We Appreciate Walking Tours (And Why You Should Too!)

We recognize that, for some of our readers, walking is not an option due to mobility issues, and we apologize for this inconvenience. While we feel that walking is the most efficient method of transportation, we recognize that it may not be practicable for you in this situation. If you are unable to physically participate in a walking tour, we can accommodate your needs.

1. The greatest approach to get a feel for a new place is to go for a walk.

There are several ways to explore a new city, but walking is, in my opinion, the greatest alternative. It makes sense when you think about it! Sure, you could take that bus or automobile trip, but consider what you could miss out on. There are teeny-tiny alleys through which no automobile can pass. There are also the cover tunnels, which are inaccessible to automobiles. What about those open-air flea markets? If you want to have a closer look at any of these locations, you'll have to walk.

Not to add, even if you're on vacation, walking is a fantastic way to get some exercise. Consider all of the buttery croissants, creamy cheeses, and glasses of wine you'll be eating and drinking while in Paris. What better way to burn off those extra calories than by going for a walk?

2. You'll pick up more information than you could on your own.

This is what I mean when I say that you'll get more knowledge than you could have gained on your own. A reputable walking tour operator performs its research, which includes much more than a fast Google search on the subject.

3. You don't have to think about where you're going.

If you believe you can figure out the best ways to visit a city just by glancing at a map, I'm sorry to break the news to you, but you're mistaken. Sure, you might use a map to locate the most direct or easiest path, but you may miss out on a lot of very amazing places you didn't even know existed!

4. You'll get the opportunity to meet a local.

Locals can provide far more insight about the city you're visiting than any information you may discover online. Ask them for restaurant suggestions, language assistance if you don't know the languages and other insider information that you wouldn't be able to learn on your own if you weren't a local.

A local guide is also a wonderful resource if you're inquisitive about the culture of the location you're visiting. There are just some things that you don't realize unless you've lived in a city for a long period.

5. You'll have the opportunity to meet other travelers.

This is particularly true if you are traveling alone. What better way to meet individuals who share your interests than to go on a walking tour? You'll meet other people who are interested in the same thing as you are, and you could even make a new buddy.

Even if you aren't traveling alone, you can meet new individuals. It's a great way to bond, and we really enjoy trips that conclude with people from all walks of life exchanging contact information to stay in touch.
