#1. The Camel safari of Jaisalmer

A night spent alone in the middle of the Indian desert under the stars!

This scenario would make more than one dream, and that's what awaits you if you decide to do a Camel Safari in the Indian desert (only a few km from Jaisalmer). Following link if you like to read more about what to see in Jaisalmer.

In the program :

An afternoon on camels in the sand dunes

A magical sunset in the middle of the dunes

A return to the camp (also in the desert) for a festive evening with musicians, dancers and Indian buffet at will

One night, alone, in the middle of the Indian desert. A jeep will bring you safely, they will provide you with very thick blankets because the night is very cold (we also had a good sleeping bag and beanies, it was not too much). You will sleep under the stars or in your tent, you choose! A watchman will sleep in a tent several meters from you, only in case of problems.

Unquestionably the most beautiful memory of India that we will keep!

# 2 Take to the heights on the ramparts of Jaipur

Surely THE BEST SPOT we are proud to have found in India. We had a magical time strolling up the ramparts in front of the Amber Fort in Jaipur.

These ramparts are not indicated, you have to take a small path in front of the fort, on the other side of the road. Not many people know this place, we found it thanks to beautiful Instagram photos that we had spotted. Hopefully you will be alone at the top of these ramparts! For our part, we just encountered a painter who was taking inspiration at the top of one of the towers.

Above all, don't do like we do: don't forget to take a bottle of water with you before climbing. It's pretty sporty to trudge up these ramparts, but the reward with a view of madness will be there!

# 3 The beauty of the Taj Mahal

# 3 The beauty of the Taj Mahal

You couldn't visit India without going through one of the 7 wonders of the world: the Taj Mahal!

This immense white mausoleum made us dream by its immensity, its symmetry and its spell.

We enjoyed this day so much that we dedicated a full article on the Taj Mahal visit. To relive in pictures this meeting with the Taj Mahal.

# 4 The atmosphere of Varanasi

The city of Varanasi has a unique atmosphere in India that deserves to be experienced!

We felt right in this city with its small shopping streets and its atmosphere close to the river.

Varanasi is also known for its religious ceremonies along the Ganges with many cremations.

Finally, one of our favorite moments is to live after dark: a kite ball to admire the city skyline at sunset. A wonderful spectacle, beautiful poetry.

# 5 The romantic city of Udaipur

The romantic city of Rajasthan is aptly named. We fell in love with this charming town surrounded by lakes.

A little crush on the night atmospheres of the city: with the lights bordering the lake at nightfall, it was magic!

You will have the choice of the place but we advise you to observe a beautiful sunset from the roof of a hotel!

# 6 Kamasutra Temple in Khajuraho

An atypical visit not to be missed! If you have the possibility to go through Khajuraho, come and visit the Kamasutra temple, it is an original experience to live.

The temple, or should I say the temples because it is actually a grouping of temples that you will visit. The best known, the one we visited, is the Western group of temples: it has more than 22 temples. There were 70 at the time, but some were destroyed.

An original visit to add to our list during our trip to North India Tour.

# 7 Pilgrimage Tour of Rishikesh

We spent our last days in India in Rishikesh (a few km from Haridwar), a true haven of peace which made us disconnect from the ambient noise of India and its pollution.

The river of this city will offer you a splendid view with its turquoise water bordered by mountains.

We advise you to rent a scooter to go a little further and reach a hidden beach (20km north of Rishikesh). For the more athletic, many activities such as Rafting are also available in Rishikesh.

#8 Cooking Class in India

We loved our cooking class experience in India!

During our World Tour, our challenge is to learn to cook in each country we visit.

Mission accomplished in India where we learned to cook with an Indian family a vegetable curry and Chapatis (Indian pancakes), it was a real treat.

We booked our cooking class in Jodhpur. You have the choice between veg or non-veg dish. For our part, we chose to cook a vegetarian dish. We also bought spices in this store. They send you by email many recipes to make with these spices, it's a great memory!

# 9 The fortified city of Jaisalmer

Stroll through the ramparts of the city of Jaisalmer, the "Golden City", a moment that we loved! Day and night, you will discover the atmosphere of this fortified city.

If you do not want to be solicited by the many merchants, we advise you to come and discover the Jaisalmer fort at night, it will be much quieter than day. Our experiences still deserve to be lived.

OUR FEELING ON INDIA

Point of view of HER

Susan: “I keep a rather mixed vision on my experience in North India.

I was amazed by the beauty and diversity of the landscapes we encountered. I loved the change of landscapes in just a few hours: going from the mountains to the desert through wonderful lakes, it was just magical and exotic. My experience at the Taj Mahal also marked me, that of emotions that day. We had wonderful meetings: the Indians will always welcome you with open arms, they are very generous people.

On the other hand, I found that our 35 days in India were very tiring and intense, both physically and mentally. Noise constantly in the streets with horns but also in hotels, day and night. Traveling as a woman in India also means having heavy looks all day long. They are not mean looks but rather intrigued, curious. You just have to get used to it and be ready to be stared at every day. The pollution and the mountains of dust in the cities surprised me a lot. A real shock with the pollution in New Delhi during the New Year period: we could hardly leave our hotel room, it was unbearable!

When traveling in this country, you obviously have to take India as a whole, that's why it's a real experience to live. I would like to return to India in the future to visit the southern part, which also makes me dream. But in the meantime, let's continue our World Tour! "

HIM's point of view

Robert: “I agree with Susan on a lot of points. I am rather mixed on our trip to India. Because on the one hand there is the beauty of the landscapes and the people who have their hearts on their hands: many Indians give everything when they have nothing. On the other hand, there is incessant poverty and noise: it is impossible to rest, it is very tiring! The landscapes we saw are all incredible! There is really a crazy diversity between deserts, rice fields, palaces...

So it's really both a crush and a place where I know I can't stay long because it hits me on the system. But it's still super incredible as a trip, I recommend it! It's a great life experience. "

"India you love it or you hate it"

We do not totally agree with this repeated phrase. For us it is rather: India you love it AND you hate it! For all the points that we have mentioned above, our feelings about India remain balanced.

We hope you enjoyed this article and will help you organize your trip to India!
