Helpful Strangers
Not only once, or twice, but a few times that I've lost count, I am helped by complete strangers.
On one occasion, I was with my check-in suitcase, at Kings Cross Underground Station, by myself, trying to climb the stairs. A guy appears from behind, without asking or suggesting, lifted my suitcase, carried onto the top of the staircase, for me.
One midnight, my commute to hotel was disrupted by signal failures plus engineering work plus "last train has departed", I was left stranded at a bus terminal. The night shift guys were teaching me how to get to the hotel by the most economical way, even though I ended up taking uber.
Another time, at a junction, my internet died, unable to get to car rental place, a police officer used his phone and his radio, walked me to the place, made sure I was in the right place.
Navigating day-to-day life in London can be tricky, but I find that as soon as I ask, there are always people who gladly put whatever they are doing aside to help me.
These people make me feel at ease, this is how I remember London.
