There's a lake behind this structure. Bird watchers will love this place.
After I left, I send a pic of the banyan tree on the upper floor to someone. I was asked "how's it growing on the upper floor?".
Visit this place and figure it out ;-)
Hawa Mahal, "the wind palace," was built during the era of Jhala rulers. Even though it was an ambitious project with ultimate craftsmanship, the work was left incomplete. The part which is incomplete is outside the actual fort and is in different stages of construction along with the study of architectural designs, which were stopped midway. These give a glimpse into the style of architecture used by the artisans in erecting Hawa Mahal.
From : Wiki
Hawa Mahal is an incomplete palace which has a contemporary approach with its courtyard planning and use of asymmetrical plan. Since the palace has large number of arched openings all around its facade, ample amount of light enters while shadows are also casted along the walkways in beautiful patterns. The incomplete structure stands outside the fort abandoned halfway by the Wadhwan rulers. The use of different types of arches, columns, stone masonry, the spacing and the projected pilasters are those elements that helps to play light and shadow to redecorate it more and gives an architectural combination of different mixing of architectural styles.
