Location : Google Maps
I noticed this vav on Google Maps. No info about this vav anywhere. When I was in Dholka I made it a point to visit this place. However when I reached the location pinned to Google Maps I could not find a vav. I was leaving, a bit dejected, when one of the locals called out and asked me what I was looking for. I was very lucky because he explained that the original vav was in very bad shape and had been replaced by a temple where the first level of the vav would have been (see attached pic). The entrance pavilion has been restored (see pic) and is the only surviving thing from the original vav. An inscription from the vav, in a ancient language, has been fixed to the underside of the pavilion (see pic). Also a plaque in Gujarati says the vav was built in 1410 (see pic).
