The walk from the Badami Museum up to the hilltop, where the Upper Shivalaya Temple stands, takes about 10 minutes if done without breaks. Along the path you pass four gateways, the two mantapas, the Lower Shivalaya Temple, a circular bastion, the granaries and a structure with Islamic arches. Faint inscriptions can also be seen along the way on some of the boulders.
