LTSD's K-12 Trauma Counselor (TC) provides specialized support services to students and families who have been impacted by trauma. The TC is also able to provide intensive counseling services to students who are at risk of mental health problems due to other conditions, i.e. anxiety, depression, grief/loss, suicidal thoughts, and/or other medical issues. Preference is given to students who (a) have a history of trauma and (b) do not have additional mental health services in place.
Due to COVID-19, many counseling services for 2020-2021 will look different. Most sessions during this school year will be individual, but family services may also be offered. There will not be groups offered at this time.
The TC utilizes TF-CBT techniques during sessions, incorporating art, music, and play therapy into this approach.
