Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TripTrap collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our mobile app and related services.
By using TripTrap, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
TripTrap may collect or store the following types of information:
Location and Trip Data
TripTrap uses your device location to measure speed, distance, route, duration, and trip history. This may include precise location coordinates while a trip is being recorded.
Location and trip route data are used to provide core app features such as:
• Live speed tracking
• Distance and trip duration calculation
• Route display
• Trip history
• Trip summaries
• Share images
Trip route data is stored on your device unless you choose to export or share it.
Profile and Vehicle Information
You may create a profile with information such as:
• Nickname
• Avatar emoji
• Vehicle make
• Vehicle model
• App preferences, such as units and language
This information is used to personalize the app and, when eligible, display leaderboard entries.
Photos Access
TripTrap may request permission to save generated trip images to your Photos library. The app uses this permission only to add images you choose to save, such as trip share cards or transparent PNG exports.
TripTrap does not read, scan, or upload your photo library.
Notifications
TripTrap may request permission to send notifications, including trip-related alerts, safety reminders, or service reminders. You can control notification permissions in your device settings.
Files You Export or Share
TripTrap may allow you to export or share trip data, such as CSV files or trip images. When you choose to share content, that content is handled by the destination app, service, or person you select.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
• Provide speed, distance, route, and trip tracking features
• Save and display your trip history
• Generate trip summaries and share images
• Manage leaderboard groups and join requests
• Maintain app functionality, reliability, and safety
Third-Party Services
TripTrap uses Firebase services provided by Google, including Firebase Firestore, to support leaderboard and group features. Google may process data as a service provider or processor for Firebase services.
Firebase data may be processed and stored on Google infrastructure. Your use of TripTrap is also subject to the privacy and security practices of Firebase and Google.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information only in these situations:
• With Firebase/Google as needed to provide leaderboard and group features
• With other users when you appear on a leaderboard or in a group
• With apps or services you choose when exporting or sharing content
• If required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
Leaderboard information may be visible to other users depending on the leaderboard scope, such as global leaderboard or group leaderboard.
Data Storage and Retention
Trip and route history is primarily stored on your device.
Leaderboard and group data stored in Firebase may remain until:
• It is replaced by newer data
• It is removed during leaderboard season resets
• You no longer qualify for the leaderboard
• You request deletion, where applicable
• We delete it as part of maintenance or abuse prevention
Deleting the app may remove local data from your device, but it may not automatically delete leaderboard or group data already stored in Firebase. To request deletion of server-side data, contact us.
Your Choices
You can control your data in several ways:
• Disable location access in iOS Settings
• Disable notification permissions in iOS Settings
• Choose not to use leaderboard or group features
• Delete local trip history from the app, where available
• Avoid exporting or sharing trip files/images
• Contact us to request deletion of server-side leaderboard data
Some app features may not work properly if required permissions are disabled.
Children’s Privacy
TripTrap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Data Processing
If you use TripTrap, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including locations where Firebase or Google infrastructure operates.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information. To make a request, contact us at:

We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of TripTrap after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
