Welcome to the homepage of our lab 😊, located in Physics department at IIT Delhi. We are a new group working on exploring new emerging phases of matter using electronic transport experiments. While the concept of free electrons seems intuitive in many scenarios, their behavior transforms drastically in the presence of interactions. For instance, superconductivity- electrons in presence of attractive interaction between them give rise to zero resistance phase - no dissipation at all. Similarly, electrons confined in 2 dimensions can give rise to ballistic streams of charges (charges that cannot scatter - edge modes)—where electrons may behave as a fraction of electronic charge. We as a group, are trying to search for ways to understand them and try to manipulate such condensed matter systems to realise them in simpler situations with potential applications. We use mainly 2D exfoliated van der Waals materials to fabricate devices and measure their transport properties in low temperatures. We talk to our theory friends and modify our experiments.
