第九節: 橫仆步及坐盤步類
Section IX: "Crouching Stance" Type of Postures (Horizontal Fallen Stance or Sitting on Crossed Legs Stance)
[Explanation:
Use the crouching stance (horizontal fallen stance or sitting on crossed legs stance) with various kinds of postures for which the crouching stance type is suitable. Base the decision to use these types of stances on the primary application that is desired, using the following pictures and descriptions as a guide. ]

(一) 仆步穿掌
1. 作法﹕(甲)左仆步穿掌作法︰由自然步法, 右腿坐實不動﹐ 全身下蹲前俯, 左腳向左側伸直大腿舖地 ﹐ 腳掌踏實。 右掌後鉤向上翹起比肩稍高。 左掌翻轉向上沿左腿內側向左穿置左腳背上面, 目視左掌。 其完成姿勢如左圖66。 (乙)右仆步穿掌作法與(甲)同,惟左右相反。
2. 應用︰ 對方由正面或側方擊來。 我轉身下蹲閃開對方身手, 猛出一掌一腳穿至對方襠內, 而後擊之。
3. 要領︰俯身仆腿穿掌要協同一致其餘
要領前項三目。
(1) Fallen stance with piercing palm
1. Action:
(a) Left fallen stance [pu-bu] with piercing palm:
From the "natural stance" [a.k.a. parallel stance], sit solidly on the right leg, squatting the whole body down and bending forward. Stretch the left leg straight out to the left side on the floor, pushing solidly through the sole of the foot. Turn the right palm to hook backward, lifting it a little higher than shoulder level height. Flip the left palm over and pierce towards the left along the inside of the left leg until reaching the top of the [left] foot. Look towards the left palm, finishing the posture as in Figure (66).
(b) When doing right fallen stance with piercing palm, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I turn the body and squat down to get out of the way of the opponent's body and hand. I suddenly send out one palm and one foot to pierce at the inside of the opponent's groin and strike.
3. Essential points:
Leaning the body into fallen stance and piercing with the palm must happen in coordination. The rest of the essential points are the same as in the previous posture's item 3.

(二)﹕盤步十字手
1. 作法︰(甲)右盤步十字手作法: 左腳由自然步踏實不動, 曲膝下坐, 右腳由後向左橫移半步。 腳跟提起腳尖着地, 右大腿盤置于左大腿下, 右膝蓋置于左膝窩下, 兩腿緊叠, 保持彈性﹐ 全身下蹲, 成坐盤步。 同時兩掌, 分由, 左右向上劃圓然後十字相交置於胸前左掌置右掌內豎直大指向內。 目前平視。 其完成姿勢如左圖67。(乙)左盤步十字手作法與(甲)同。 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我下蹲閃避之並用雙掌掩獲, 縮身蒿勁待發轉身進擊。
3. 要領︰全身縮成一團, 保持彈性﹐沉氣蓄勁待發。
(2) Sitting on crossed legs with crossing hands
1. Action:
(a) Right sitting on crossed legs with crossing hands:
From the "natural stance" [a.k.a. parallel stance], keep the left foot in place and bend the knee to sit down. Move the right foot back horizontally a half step, with the heel lifted and the toes on the ground. Coil the right thigh underneath the left thigh, with the right kneecap under the pit of the left knee. Fold both legs in tightly, maintaining flexibility and squatting the whole body down, ending in sitting on crossed legs stance. At the same time, separate both palms to draw a circle up to the left and right, and then cross the hands in an "X" shape in front of the chest. The left palm is on the inside of the right palm, with the palms vertical and the thumbs towards the inside. Look straight forward, finishing the posture as shown in Figure (67).
(b) When doing left sitting on crossed legs with crossing hands, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If an opponent is coming in to strike from the front or perhaps the side, I squat down to dodge the attack and use both palms to capture without warning. [Alternatively], I contract the body as if hiding in the weeds, storing the energy and waiting to return an attack.
3. Essential points:
Crouch the whole body down as one unit, maintaining flexibility. Sink the Qi and store the energy, waiting to send it out.

(三): 盤步劈掌
1. 作法︰ (甲)左盤步左劈掌作法﹕由立正全身下蹲, 曲腿坐實, 左腳不動﹐ 隨身左轉, 右腳向左橫蓋一 步踏實下坐不動。 左腳前移將大腿盤置于大腿下, 兩腿叠緊保持彈性 。 同時兩掌上舉向左前劈按,左掌在前同肩高﹐ 左肩前順,垂肩墜肘,右掌在左肘下側, 按于胸前, 均成陰掌。 食指均對準鼻樑垂線,目視左掌,其完成姿勢如左圖68。(乙)右盤步右劈掌作法與(甲)同,惟左右相反。
2. 應用︰對方由正面或側方擊來, 我蹲身閃避之後轉身橫步劈擊之。
3. 要領:轉身橫步劈掌要協同一致, 其餘要須同前(二)項三目。
(3) Sitting on crossed legs with splitting palms
1. Action:
(a) Left sitting on crossed legs with left splitting palms:
From the "attention posture", squat the whole body down, bending the legs and sitting solidly. [Do this by] keeping the left foot still, turning the body to the left, and taking one step with the right foot horizontally across to the left while squatting down. Shift the left foot forward so that the [left] thigh is coiled underneath of the [right] thigh.
Fold both legs in tightly, maintaining flexibility. At the same time, move both palms up and split down to the left and press. The left palm is forward and at shoulder level height. Allow the left shoulder to go forward, sinking the shoulder and dropping the elbow. The right palm is to the side underneath the left elbow, pressing in front of the chest. Both [hands] end as Yin palms with the index fingers [centered] on a line beneath the nose. Look at the left palm, finishing the posture as shown in Figure (68).
(b) When doing right sitting on crossed legs with right splitting palms, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If an opponent is coming in to strike from the front or perhaps the side, I squat down to dodge the attack by turning the body and stepping aside, using both splitting palms to strike [the opponent].
3. Essential points:
Turning the body and side stepping must happen in coordination with the palms splitting. The rest of the essential points are the same as in the previous posture (2) item 3.

(4) Sitting on crossed legs with pluck [yank] and rasp-like strike
1. Action:
(a) Right sitting on crossed legs with left pluck [yank] and right rasp-like strike:
Move into a sitting on crossed legs stance using the same method as in posture (3), part 1b. When turning the body to the right, pluck [yank] the left hand, going from the right and then grasping it into a fist while drawing it back to the left side of the waist, ending in a Yang fist. Move the right fist over the left fist and press down with a rasp-like strike, center of the palm facing upward. Allow the right shoulder to go forward, sinking the shoulder and dropping the elbow. Look at the right fist, finishing the posture as shown in Figure (69).
(b) When doing left sitting on crossed legs with right pluck [yank] and left rasp-like strike, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If an opponent is coming in to strike from the front or perhaps the side, I squat down to dodge the attack by turning the body and stepping aside, using a rasp-like strike on [the opponent].
3. Essential points:
Turning the body and side stepping must happen in coordination with the rasp-like strike. The rest of the essential points are the same as in the previous posture (2) item 3.
[Note: Both characters 措 (to handle) and 銼 (to file or rasp) are pronounced "cuò", but 銼 is used to describe this same movement in the Mountain Top I series. So I think this might be a printer typo. When you use a rasp or file in woodworking, you push the file away from you and press down. So the rasping strike with the right hand is not only moving forward, it is pressing down over the left arm, which is simultaneously withdrawing to the left hip.]
