第三節:弓步類:
說明: 以弓步而形成之各種姿勢, 稱之爲弓步基本姿势。擇其主要而實用者, 分别圖說如次:
Section III: " Bow stance" type of postures
Explanation:
Use the bow stance with various kinds of postures for which the bow stance type is suitable. Base the decision to use this type of stance on the primary application that is desired, using the following pictures and descriptions as a guide.
(一): 弓步撥冲拳:
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步撥右冲拳作法, 由立正, 左脚前進約一步, 左脚尖向前右腳尖向外約30度, 兩腳寬與跨寬同, 右脚跟蹬住, 左脚掌撐住, 右腿似直非直, 左膝蓋以不超過左足跟爲度, 扣膝裹襠, 成左弓步。 左手由胸前向左撥出採握陽拳拉至腰之左側, 同時右拳經左拳上向前直冲成立拳, 與鼻樑垂綫對準, 約與肩同高, 右肩前順約45度。 目視右拳, 其完成姿勢如右圖23。(乙) 右弓步右撥左沖拳作法與(平[should be甲])同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面擊來, 我以一手撥開對方之手, 同時上脚成弓步出拳冲撃之。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 拳頭向前下方着力, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠,後腳跟蹬實, 前腳掌用力撐, 撥掌出拳與上步, 動作要協同一 致。
(1) Bow stance with push aside and charging fist
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with push aside and right charging fist:
From the "attention posture" [with heels together], advance the left foot forward about one step [i.e., the distance of a stride or pace], with the left toes pointing to the front and the right toes pointing outward approximately 30 degrees. Both feet are wide and at hip distance. Push through the right heel and brace using the sole of the left foot. The right leg seems to be straight but is not straight. The left knee should not go past the left heel. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs, ending in a left bow stance. Move the left hand out in front of the chest, and then pluck [yank] to grab the hand into a Yang fist that is pulled back to the left side. At the same time, send the right fist forward by passing it over the left fist, ending in a forceful charging fist that is [centered] on a line beneath the nose at approximately shoulder level height. Allow the right shoulder to follow the [the punch] forward approximately 45 degrees. Look at the right fist, finishing the posture as in Figure (23).
(b) When doing right bow stance with push aside and left charging fist, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front, I use one hand to push aside the opponent's hand. At the same time, I step forward into a bow stance and use a charging fist forward to strike.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. Send the end of the fist [knuckles] forward and down with force, and sink the waist jìng downward. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, buckle the knees and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Push aside with the palm and punch with the fist while stepping up, coordinating all of the movements as one.

(二):弓步架冲拳:
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步左架右冲拳作法, 其弓步作法與本節一項同。 左拳向上挑架, 小臂橫於額前上方拳心向上。 右拳向前直沖成立拳, 與鼻樑垂綫對準, 目視右拳, 其完成姿勢如右圖24。 (乙) 右弓步右架左冲拳作法與(甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面撃来, 我用一手架開對方之手同時上步出拳沖擊對力。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沈肩墜肘, 拳頭向下着力, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腳跟蹬, 前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致。
(2) Bow stance with block and charging fist
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with [left] block and right charging fist:
Move into a bow stance using the same method as in posture (1). Lift the left fist upward to block, ending with the forearm horizontal in front of the forehead and the center of the fist facing upward. At the same time, send the right fist forward, ending in a charging fist that is [centered] on a line beneath the nose. Look at the right fist, finishing the posture as in Figure (24).
(b) When doing right bow stance with [right] block and left charging fist, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front, I use one hand block the opponent's hand to create an opening. At the same time, I step forward into a bow stance and use a charging fist forward to strike.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. Send the end of the fist [knuckles] down with force, and sink the waist jìng downward. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, buckle the knees and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.

(三): 弓步指襠捶
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步右指襠捶作法, 其弓步作法與本節一項同, 左手立掌由面前向右横撥, 同時右手用翻拳向下方沖擊。 右肩前順, 左手立掌附右大臂之內側, 目視右拳其完成姿勢如右圖25。(乙) 右弓歩左指襠捶作法與(甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我用一掌撥開對方之手, 用翻拳沖擊對方中, 下部。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 上身不可過于前俯, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腳跟蹬, 前腳掌撐, 出掌出腳動作要協同一致。
(3) Bow stance with punch directed to groin
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with right punch directed to groin
Move into a bow stance using the same method as in posture (1). Push the left hand horizontally to the right in front of the chest using a standing palm. At the same time, use the left hand in a reversed fist position to charge downward. Allow the right shoulder to follow the [punch] forward, with the left hand's standing palm touching at the inside of the right upper arm. Look at the right fist, finishing the posture as in Figure (25).
(b) When doing right bow stance with left punch directed to groin, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I use one hand to push aside the opponent's hand to create an opening. At the same time, I use the reversed fist to charge into the opponent's lower middle section.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. The upper body must not stoop forward too much. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Push aside with the palm while stepping up, coordinating all of the movements as one.

(四): 弓步下栽捶:
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步右栽捶: 其弓步作法與本節一項同, 左手立掌向右撥至右肩止, 同時右手用翻拳向左膝前下栽, 上身前俯, 右肩前順, 目視右拳, 其完成姿勢如左圖26。 (乙)右弓步左栽捶 作法與(甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我用一掌撥開對方之手同時提腿進步出翻拳栽擊對方胸腹部。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 前腳掌用力撐住, 動 作要协同一致。
(4) Bow stance with downward fist plant strike
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with right downward fist plant strike
Move into a bow stance using the same method as in posture (1). Push the left hand using a standing palm horizontally to the right until it is in front of the right shoulder. At the same time, use the left hand in a reversed fist position to strike downward with the planting fist in front of the left knee. Lean the upper body forward, and allow the right shoulder to follow the [punch] forward. Look at the right fist, finishing the posture as in Figure (26).
(b) When doing right bow stance with left downward fist plant strike, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I use one hand to push aside the opponent's hand to create an opening. At the same time, as the leg lifts to step forward, I use the reversed fist to forcefully hit the opponent's chest and abdomen.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, buckle the knees and wrap the inner thighs. Forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot, coordinating all of the movements as one.

(五): 弓步雙托掌
(1) 作法: (甲) 左弓步雙托掌作法: 左脚前進一步, 右腳在後成左弓步, 同時兩陽掌向前托出, 兩掌離開約半尺, 掌高稍低於肩, 目視兩掌, 其完成姿勢如左圖27。(乙) 右弓步雙托掌作法與 (甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面擊來, 我上步踏入對方襠內, 同時用兩掌壓住或分開對方之臂隨進步猛力推托對方腹部, 使其後跌。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 空胸緊背, 腰勁下沉, 扣膝裹襠後腿跨, 前腳撐, 與托掌動作要協同一致。
(5) Bow stance with double supporting palms
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with double supporting palms.
Advance the left foot forward one step, with the right foot behind, to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, raise both Yang palms forward [as if] supporting or propping up [something with the hands]. Both hands are separated open by about a half Chinese foot [i.e., 1/6 meter] with the palms at about shoulder level height. Look at both palms, finishing the posture as in Figure (27).
(b) When doing right bow stance with double supporting palms, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front, I step up to stomp inside the opponent's crotch [i.e., step between their legs]. At the same time, I use both palms to press down and perhaps separate the opponent's arms. While stepping forward, I suddenly push into the opponent's abdomen, causing them to then fall.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. Empty the chest and tighten the back. Sink the waist jìng downward. Buckle the knees and wrap the inner thighs while straddling the legs wide. Forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot and support with the palms, coordinating both of the movements as one.

(六) 弓步雙貫拳:
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步雙貫拳作法, 左腳前進一步, 右腳在後成左弓步, 同時兩手握拳隨步進時由左右變陰拳向前捲兩拳相距約半尺, 兩臂灣[should be 彎]爲弓形, 目視兩拳, 其完成姿勢如左圖28。(乙) 右弓步雙貫拳作法與 (甲)同。惟左右脚前後相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面擊來, 我將對方之手壓下, 進步捲貫對方太陽穴。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿蹬前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致。
(6) Bow stance with double piercing fists
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with double piercing fists.
Advance the left foot forward one step, with the right foot behind, to end in a left bow stance. At the same time that the foot advances, make both hands into fists and roll them forward to the left and right while changing them into Yin fists, separating them by about a half Chinese foot [i.e., 1/6 meter]. Both arms are slightly bent in a curved shape. Look at both fists, finishing the posture as in Figure (28).
(b) When doing right bow stance with double piercing fists, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right feet, front and back reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front, I push the opponent's hand down. Then while advancing forward, I sweep [the fists] up to pierce on either side of the opponent's temple.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulders and drop the elbows. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tain. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot, coordinating both of the movements as one.
[Note: This posture is like the 99 Taiji form's "Two winds strike the ears".]

(七): 弓步採撐掌
1. 作法: (甲) 右弓步左採右撐掌, 右脚前進一步, 左腳在後成右弓步, 同時左手由胸前採拉, 隨即握成陽拳收置腰之左側, 同時右掌由胸前左手上用陰掌面前撐出, 掌邊向前稍高於肩, 目視右掌, 其完成姿勢如右圖29。(乙) 左弓步右採左撐掌作法與(甲)同惟左右相 反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我用一手採住對方之手同時用另一掌隨上步砍擊對方咽喉或面部。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿蹬前腳掌撐動作要協同一致。
(7) Bow stance with pluck [yank] and bracing palm.
1. Action:
(a) Right bow stance with left pluck [yank] and right bracing palm.
Advance the right foot forward one step, with the left foot behind, to end in a right bow stance. At the same time, pull the left hand across in front of the chest, and then immediately grasp [the hand into a fist] and pluck [yank] with it to end in a Yang fist at the left side of the waist. At the same time, send the right palm out in front of the chest, passing it over the left hand and using a [right] Yin palm to brace towards the front. The edge [i.e., pinky finger side] of the [right] palm is facing forward at a little higher than shoulder level. Look at the right palm, finishing the posture as in Figure (29).
(b) When doing left bow stance with right pluck [yank] and left bracing palm, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I pluck [yank] the opponent's hand with one hand. At the same time, I use the other palm to strike with a chop to the opponent's throat or face as I step up.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tian. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.

(八): 弓步單按掌(單鞭)
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步左按掌作法: 左脚前進一步右脚在後成左弓步, 同時右手成鈎掌向右後方提起稍高於肩, 左掌由右胸向前上方抛出成分掌, 掌心向下食指與鼻樑 垂線對準, 高與肩平, 目視左掌其完成姿勢如右 圖30。 (乙) 右弓步單按掌作法與(甲)同, 惟左右相 反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我用左手向上挑開對方之手, 乘勢進步按擊之。 鉤掌爲配合之掌。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿蹬前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致
(8) Bow stance with single pushing palm (single whip).
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with left pushing palm.
Advance the left foot forward one step, with the right foot behind, to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, raise the right hand as a hooked palm to the right rear at a little higher than shoulder level. [Move] the left palm towards the right side of the chest, and then throw it up forward as the palms separate. The center of the [left] palm is facing downward and at shoulder level height, with the index finger [centered] on a line beneath the bridge of the nose. Look at the left palm, finishing the posture as in Figure (30).
(b) When doing right bow stance with right pushing palm, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I use one hand to lift the opponent's hand to create an opening, and then push the opponent while advancing forward with the step. The [timing of the] hooked palm matches [with the timing of the striking] palm.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tian. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.

(九): 弓步肘打
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步左採右肘打作法: 左脚前進一步成左弓步, 同时左手經胸前由右向左採, 拉握成陽拳收置腰之左側, 上身向左擰約90度。 右手握拳用平肘隨身扭轉向前平打, 目視右肘尖, 共完成姿勢如右圓31。 (乙) 右弓步右採左肘打作法與(甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面, 或側方打來, 我用一手採住對方之手, 拉直其臂, 同時淮步, 用另一肘猛擊對方之肘或腋部。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿跨前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致。
(9) Bow stance with elbow strike
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with left pluck [yank] and right elbow strike.
Advance the left foot forward one step to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, pass the left hand across in front of the chest, and then immediately grasp [the hand into a fist] and pluck [yank] with it to end in a Yang fist at the left side of the waist. Twist the upper part of the body approximately 90 degrees to the left. Grasp the right hand into a fist, and when the body turns [to twist to the left], use the [right] elbow to hit forward at [shoulder level]. Look at the tip of the right elbow, finishing the posture as in Figure (31).
(b) When doing right bow stance with right pluck [yank] and left elbow strike, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I pluck [yank] and pull the opponent's arm with one hand. At the same time, I use the other elbow to strike the opponent's elbow or armpit area as I step up.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tian. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.

(十): 弓步採拐
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步左採右拐作法: 左脚前進一步, 成左弓步, 同時左手經胸前由右向左採拉成陽拳收置腰之左側, 上身左轉約90度, 右手握拳用右肘隨身左轉向胸前拐打, 肘尖向前, 全臂下垂, 目視右肘尖, 共完成姿勢如右圓32。(乙)右弓步右採左拐作法與 (甲)同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面, 或側方打來, 我進一步用左手採扭其左臂, 同時用右肘拐擊之。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿跨前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致。
(10) Bow stance with pluck and turned ["L-shape" strike]
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with left pluck and right turned ["L-shape" strike]:
Advance the left foot forward one step to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, pass the left hand to the right in front of the chest and then pluck [yank the hand back] , pulling it into a Yang fist at the left side of the waist. Turn the upper part of the body approximately 90 degrees to the left. As the body turns to the left, hit with the right fist turned down [into a "L-shape] and the elbow in front of the chest. The tip of the elbow is forward, and the whole arm is hanging downward. Look at the tip of the right elbow, finishing the posture as shown in Figure (32).
(b) When doing right bow stance with right pluck and left turned ["L-shape" strike], it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side using their left hand, I advance a step and use my left hand to pluck [yank] and twist the opponent's arm. At the same time, I use the right ["L-shaped"] elbow to hit [the opponent].
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tian. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.

(十一): 弓步托撐掌: (高探馬)
1. 作法: (甲) 左弓步左托右撐掌作法: 左腳前進一步成左弓步, 同時右手翻掌向前上方架托, 左掌随右手向前上方撐托, 右掌高約與頭平, 兩虎口上下相對。目視兩掌, 共完成姿勢如右圓33。(乙) 右弓步右托左撑掌作法與(甲) 同, 惟左右相反。
2. 應用: 對方由正面或側方擊來, 我進步用一手托架或壓住對方之手, 用另一手掌撐砍對方上部。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿跨前腳掌撐, 動作要協同一致。
(11) Bow stance with supporting and bracing palms (high pat on horse)
1. Action:
(a) Left bow stance with left supporting palm and right bracing palm.
Advance the left foot forward one step, with the right foot behind, to end in a left bow stance. At the same time, flip the right hand to the front and brace upward with the palm. When the right hand braces upward to the front, support [i.e., turn the palm up] with the left palm. The right palm is at head height level, and the tiger's mouth of both [hands] are opposite each other above and below. Look at the both palms, finishing the posture as in Figure (33).
(b) When doing right bow stance with right supporting palm and left bracing palm, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front or perhaps the side, I step up and use one hand to support or perhaps press downward on the opponent's hand. At the same time, I use the other palm to strike with a chop to the opponent's upper [body] section.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Sink the waist jìng downward, and sink the Qi to the dan-tian. Buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Coordinate all of the movements as one.
[Note: The "supporting palm" position means the palm is facing up, as if holding an arm, but it can also be used to push down with the back of the hand.]

(十二): 弓步摟膝貫掌︰ (摟膝抝步)
1. 作法: (甲) 右弓步摟膝貫左掌作法: 右腳前進一步成右弓步, 同時右掌由胸前下按向右摟至右膝外邊, 左掌提起由左耳旁向前貫出成陰掌, 虎口圓、 食指與鼻樑垂線對準, 目視左掌, 其完成姿勢如左圖34。(乙) 左弓步摟膝貫右掌作法與 (甲)同﹐ 惟左右相反。
2. 應用︰對方由正面擊來, 我用 一 掌摟開對方手腳, 同時進步用另一掌貫擊之。
3. 要領: 頂頭豎項, 沉肩墜肘, 空胸緊背, 腰勁下沉, 氣沉丹田, 扣膝裹襠, 後腿跨, 前腳撐, 左掌下按右臂微曲, 兩掌同時着力, 動作要協同一致。
(12) Bow stance while embracing knee and piercing with palm (brush knee twist step)
1. Action:
(a) Right bow stance while embracing knee and piercing with left palm:
Advance the right foot forward one step, to end in a right bow stance. At the same time, press the right palm downward, starting in front of the chest going down to the right to embrace the right knee at the outside of the right knee. Lift the left palm up to beside the right ear and then pierce forward, ending in a Yin palm with the tiger's mouth rounded and the index finger [centered] on a line beneath the nose. Look at the left palm, finishing the posture as in Figure (34).
(b) When doing left bow stance while embracing knee and piercing with right palm, it is the same as in part (a), only with left and right reversed.
2. Use or Application:
If the opponent comes in with a strike from the front, I use one hand embrace their hand or foot to create an opening. At the same time, I step forward into a bow stance and strike with the other hand using a piercing.
3. Essential points:
Crown of the head pushing upward. Sink the shoulder and drop the elbow. Empty the chest and tighten the back, and sink the waist jìng downward. Sink the Qi to the dan-tian, buckle the knees, and wrap the inner thighs. Push the back heel solidly [into the ground], and forcefully brace through the sole of the front foot. Push downward with the left palm and bend the right arm slightly. Exert through both palms simultaneously, coordinating all of the movements as one.
