八三.單鞭
(一).由前式兩足並立,手雲至右,兩腳不動,徐徐吸氣,身微左擰再右擰。同時右[手]向前下劃繞一小圈向右上挑成鉤掌,左掌扶右手腕內側,面對西南,坐實右腿,左腳跟提起,如圖255。
Posture 83. Single Whip
(1) [Continuing] from the previous movement, with both feet are standing side by side, wave the hands until they are at the right. Keeping both feet motionless, slowly inhale and twist the body slightly towards the right. Then, twist the body slightly towards the left. At the same time, coil the right [hand] to draw a small circle, going down to the front and then lifting up towards the right to end in a hooked palm. The left palm supports at the inside of the right wrist. Face the southwest and sit solidly on the right leg while lifting the left heel, as in Figure 255.

(二). 與六一勢(二)同。隨身左轉,左足向東進步成左弓步,同時左掌向東按平成陰掌,如圖256。
(2)The same as posture 61-(2). As the body turns left, advance the left foot towards the east to end in a left bow stance [gōng bù]. At the same time, push the left palm towards the east to end in a Yin palm at [shoulder] level, as in Figure 256.
