Capturing the childlike essence of perception and first hand observation, Anoopa’s work evokes the innocence of the human experience. A symbolic oeuvre of her roots and her impressions, the point is to allow the viewer to reflect deeply on the simplicity of the image and yet wonder at the duality of life itself.
As much as there is a sense of loss of innocence, there is a loving wonder that ties it all together. She is diversely talented, pursuing a career in art as well as in computing and digital technology. She completed her B.COM from Kerala University and also chose to complete her B.F.A in Fine Arts from the Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts. She has also been a part of the Kochi Muziris Student’s Biennale and various art camps and workshops.
‘Death and rebirth have always made an impression on me. Every moment in life reflects on the suffering from my past. I also try to capture the emotional state of me being in a particular state of mind. I mostly focus on self portraits as well in order to add a pinch of narcissism. I like to focus on magical realism and various states of one’s mind.’
