Infinity of space, separations, connections
Abijith E.A’s works are encompassed by the three words above that weave his narrative together with a graceful solidity. He is not restricted by his subject and choses to instinctively emulate his emotions and immediate surroundings as a way of finding his expression or in this case, ‘common ground’.
Hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, Abijith completed his BFA from the Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts with a specialization in Sculpture. He was a part of the Kochi Muziris Student’s Biennale 2018 – 2019 and the Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi 46th State Exhibition of Art. He was also the winner of the prestigious Raja Ravi Varma Trust Award for the year 2017 – 2018.
‘The subject of my drawing was the subtlety of things which I've experienced. I do what I like, more than that, it's a self-realization process. In the beginning, it was just an experiment with clay, later on, it took the shape of those people whom I love, periodically it was not just them but also the people who I confronted through the journey of life took shape from my fingers. From one person to another, then to a group, then it became a variety representing each personality.’
