***Please note that participation in this study is full, as all interview slots have been filled at this time.***
My name is Theodore "Teddy" Davenport (he/they), and I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Geography at the University of Washington. Over the past three decades, the Internet has fundamentally changed how trans people are able to form spaces, explore gender identity, and practice community care. My dissertation will evaluate trans people’s relationships to digital trans spaces, and I am conducting interviews as part of this research.
To qualify for this study, you must:
Be 18 years of age or older,
Identify as transgender or otherwise gender nonconforming (such as, but not limited to, nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender, or Two-Spirit),
Have sought out online transgender resources or communities at any point during your life, AND
Currently live in the United States.
A video interview lasting approximately one hour, scheduled at your convenience. During the interview, you will be asked to reflect on your history with trans digital communities and resources. Participation is completely voluntary, and the University of Washington Human Subjects Division has determined this study to be minimal risk. Interviewees will receive a $75 gift card as compensation for your time and energy.
This study has been determined to have minimal risk by the University of Washington Human Subjects Division. Anticipated risks for interview participants include potential minor emotional discomfort with questions. If you decide to be interviewed, I will take measures to secure your data, including limiting access to data, password-protecting your data, and storing your data separate from any of your personal identifiers.
