Background
On April 9, 2011, 13 Black women were forever connected through their collegiate studies at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
Ignited by their interests of sisterhood, scholarship, and service, these women sought membership into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Nu Chapter, and were bonded together, creating the women of T.R.A.N.S.C.E.N.D.E.N.C.E 13.
As the women of Transcendence 13 continue to celebrate a milestone of over 10 years of sisterhood, their goal is to impact the lives of young women just like them for years to come. Thus, in 2021 the inaugural TRANSCENDING Black Girl Magic Scholarship was created to serve as an opportunity to support a deserving young woman in her endeavors post high school. Continuing the vision this year, the winner will receive a scholarship of $1300 to be used towards their studies in community college, a four-year university or trade school.
